Posted January 25, 20241 yr I have two Sony TVs in my project and have been having worsening issues with IP control of them in the last few weeks. They generally respond immediately to the command to turn them on, but once they are on, they become unresponsive to control via C4 for some period of time. It's usually 30s to a minute, but sometimes is up to several minutes on the home screen with no response. To make matters worse, once the TV starts responding on the home screen, it seems to have the same issue as soon as I open a streaming app. If the TV has been on for over 10-15 minutes, they seem to work just fine again. I've had one of the TVs (X95H) for a few years and it never had issues until the last month or two. I just had the other (A80L) installed in the last month and it's not quite as bad as the X95H, but still has similar issues. -I'm using Neeos with both and have confirmed they are not the issue--TVs will also not respond to commands from the app on my phone. -Both TVs will respond immediately to the factory remote. -I've rebooted both TVs and they appear to be on the latest firmware. -I've rebooted my EA5 and that didn't seem to fix the issue. -Both TVs have DHCP reservations on the network. -They seem to be the only devices having this issue--no problems with areas using Rokus -I know the X95H is on Simple IP control in the settings Anyone else having issues with their Sony TVs? I saw at least one post from earlier last year that there were some Sony IP control issues. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
January 25, 20241 yr My Sony (X900F) used to be rock solid -- and now frequently, it will just stop responding to commands from C4. The only fix is to reboot my director. I'm using simple control, etc. It's a huge pain in the ass.
January 25, 20241 yr Had similar this week with another control system I use for some of my TVs. They spotted the issue as a change on Sony's end and did an update to their firmware and pushed it to their controllers. Since then no issues with that control system on the Sony TV's they control.
January 25, 20241 yr I have ongoing issues with Sony TV's dropping off the internet, so not a C4 problem, as such. Solution for me (annoying) is to reboot TV's when they lose their connections. I like the TVs but I went with LG/Samsung for the next dozen or so TVs I bought....
July 13, 20241 yr I have the same issue as OP. 2 x Sony TV's, both working perfectly when using their own remote. But when i use c4 to watch the tv (any source) it will turn on then become unresponsive to c4 for a period of time. anyone managed to find a solution to this?

I imagine going IR is the best approach now. What appears to be happening (in my case) is that the Sony drops network connection altogether— not really a C4 issue. Switching from Ethernet to WiFi seems to help a bit, but I still have the problem. It is generally stable (for me) for at least several days, sometimes several weeks. Then you need to hard cycle the TV power. I imagine a robust (but kludgy) solution could be to uses a network power switch to cycle power at 3am or something. Every time I get a software update on the Sony I cross me fingers, but it has been a couple years and no real improvement.

For whatever reason, my newer TV (A80L) has been working much more reliably over the past few months. No idea as to why it just started responding better. As far as the older one (X95H), I just gave up and hooked up a Roku to it.
July 13, 20241 yr I have 2 Sony TVs. One that’s from 2018 and another from 2021. The older one is perfect. The 2021 model will turn on 95% of the time but then almost always loses connection and I cannot change volume for anywhere from 1-3 minutes. It reconnects automatically then I can control volume. Welcome to the club
November 18, 2024Nov 18 Hi Has this issue be resovled and any good pratices or solutions, I have 2 client with sony TV and same issue. 80 per cent of time if works !!
November 18, 2024Nov 18 Some if not all of you may already have this but for Sony TVs I: -Hardwire (unless it's really not an option at all) -Set a static IP (not reserved, true static - though I'll always put in a reservation for the same MAC on the same IP just in case) -ID originally via SDDP, then fill in the IP instead. With those settings loss of control to date have been very rare (basically only on blackouts of the house.

June 10Jun 10 We have one Sony TV that is hit or miss. There's days where it will power on via control4 (I'm assuming the WOL packet makes it), but it's minutes before you can do anything with it (control the volume, move around the TV screen). If you are patient enough (like walk away for 5 minutes), it usually starts to work. By that time I've already dug out the sony remote... At one point I thought that maybe it was because it had a DHCP reservation, but the TV was set to DHCP, so I was thinking maybe it takes a few minutes for it to actually get it's IP address. I set it to static in the TV, and left the DHCP reservation as a failsafe, but control for it has still be sporadic.I find that it's more likely to work if I turn it on to whatever it was previously using. There's a DirecTV box connected to a MOIP system, so if the TV is turned off using that HDMI input for the MOIP RX unit, and then when powered back on you go to the same thing, it's more likely to work than if it was last using the MOIP RX, and turned on to a TV app, like say "Netflix". Many times when this is done, it'll power on, and sit on the Sony Home Screen, or it'll launch Netflix and be stuck on the screen where you choose a profile.

June 10Jun 10 Are people seeing this working better on WiFi vs. ethernet connection? I might try that.
