cgreenwell
So I know this subject has been touched on before, but.....If you were forced to use only 10 lighting controls in a house, where would you want them the most?
henniae
So I know this subject has been touched on before, but.....If you were forced to use only 10 lighting controls in a house, where would you want them the most?In the places where they would make the most sense. Since we don't know the layout of your house it is impossible to guess what your needs are.I like outside lighting control but timers can handle that.Entrance foyers are a good place. I have my garage door integrated so when it opens and it is dark out my foyer lights and other lights go on.The rooms and or lights that you are using the most are also good candidates. RyanE
I would use the 10 on timed outside lighting, and then on motion sensor triggered path lighting. It's the dimmers that get the most use at my house. At night, I very rarely turn on any lights, they come on (dimly) automatically as I walk around.Probably the most used function of the system at my house. *every night*.I'd sort those like this:Outside timed lighting:1 dimmer/switch for front porch lights1 switch for outdoor front outlets (landscape lighting)Motion sensed:1 switch for Master Bath Lights1 dimmer/switch for stair lights1 dimmer/switch for kid's hall lighting1 dimmer/switch for kitchen lighting2 2-button panels for the kitchen's 4 way setupComes on with garage door opening:1 dimmer/switch for mud room lightingBut that's just me, and assumes you have motion sensors you can use to trigger it all.RyanE
cgreenwell
Thanks Ryan, that's pretty much how my setup is as far as the control of it. But if I needed to hack out 3 where would you take from? It's not that much money, but my installer/integrator has talked me into more than a few additions. That's all my fault due to the wanting what they suggest and not telling myself to stay on budget.
RyanE
The list I left only has 9 devices on it...I removed Foyer, 'Keeping room', and Childrens*.RyanE
