HC250 Fails to Connect After Power Loss

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

We had a power outage this morning around 7AM and our HC250 controller running 2.6.10 is not unable to reconnect to wired or wireless network.  I have tried power cycling the controller and even leaving it unplugged for several hours before trying again.  On power up the Wifi light on the front will flash slowly for about 10 seconds then go dark.  The Link and Data indicators never illuminate but it shows it has power.

I located the controller on my network via the routers client list and attempt to connect to it via web browser.  It fails to connect and alternates between the following messages:

  • Connection Unavailable

The connection to the controller is currently down. This is often a result of a network issue. Please wait while we attempt to re-establish a connection. If this problem persists, please contact your dealer.

  • Checking the controller state. Please wait a moment for the process to complete.

What is the next troubleshooting step I can take to attempt recovery?  Network Reset?  Factory Reset?  Something less ominous?

I rebooted the router as a precaution and then attempted multiple network resets of the HC-250.  While I can still see the controller on my network nothing can connect to it.

The only cp4 backup file I could fine is 3 years old so if I factory reset there is a minor chance I might loose some minor lighting timing adjustments and I guess it is possible a light switch or two as I cannot recall when the last were added.

Any other options for recovery before I get brave and hit the reset button?

Great call on the cloud backup as I do have 4Sight.  Thank you for the assistance thus far.

The good news is I was able to download a backup from this morning prior to the power outage.

The bad news is the factory reset and subsequent network resets are not having any effect.  I can see the LEDs on the front panel go solid and then it attempts to startup and make a Wifi connection which fails.  The controller is then visible on my network via a wired connection but I still am unable to connect to it.

Any ideas on next steps?
