Composer HE crashing after new install

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have a new laptop and trying to move my Composer HE installation to it.

I logged into the Control4 site and downloaded version 3.2.1 to correspond to my current controller version.  The install goes fine, but when it tries to run, it crashes after a few seconds without any visible message or other indication of what happened.   The event viewer shows a .NET runtime error referencing Control4.Client.FileManager.GetApplicationPath and Control4.SubscriptionServices.VerifySubscription.

The new laptop is running Windows 11 Pro, fully patched.  It’s on the same network as my Control4 hardware.  Since I was able to log in and download the software, it would seem that my subscription is OK.

Does a dealer need to do something to move an existing HE subscription to different hardware?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Jim

Thanks Mitch, that worked much better!

The title bar says Composer Home Edition 3.4.2/ OS Management Package 3.2.1.  Does that mean this version is safe to run with the older OS or should I reinstall 3.2.1 now?

With OS3 the way he works has changed. You now use the latest version of he but installs a management pack for older versions of OS. So the fact that you have the lower version of the management pack means this is safe to use
