zaphod
It will be interesting to see what happens to the sunsetting of cloud services for OS 2 systems in 2026. A bunch of people with systems that have been ignored for years will come out of the woodwork wondering what is going on. IBZICON

If you don't want the customization of x4, or home kit, or whatever, than grandfathered 4sight will continue. How long?, don't know.

RAV
Marketing has got their work cut out for them. They need to keep the happy happy, and the was happy not pissed. On the plus, they'll be used hardware becoming available for the OS2 group to go to OS3 for a reasonable cost. Swap in some EA and T3 and bring older projects to OS3 to maintain their abilities, not the latest features, but better than the alternatives. zaphod
It isn't surprising that subscription will be required in the future. They have been incrementally moving in this direction for years and it is what the whole software world has done. But it may keep people away - Home Assistant is getting better in a lot of ways and has some advantages for those that are technically inclined, except it isn't good at AV. msgreenf
Wasn't that clear from the connect announcement that this was always coming? IBZICON and tmj4 1

Unfortunately this is the problem with every non dealer installed home automation platform. I guess I understand as custom AV integration is pretty much a niche application. zaphod
Actually I always like the Harmony remotes and they were decent at control for your AV devices. But didn't work for whole home audio.
Cyknight
It's been dead quiet on any roll out of Connect et al outside of US since take over. I'm surprised they're announcing this to be coming withing 6 months when 'connect' isn't even announced to come out in that time frame outside of the US

Cyknight
1 hour ago, msgreenf said: It will be coming to other regions outside the US w the launch of x4 Well, the word is that after the launch they're looking into expanding it outside the US. Not WITH the launch as such. Which raises some questions on the 'requirement' of Connect. 1 hour ago, zaphod said: So the new Connect pricing model only applies in the US? Not even in Canada? Yes it is US only, it is not in Canada at this time.
Topspin14m
Is this going to require a Core or will it run on a CA10?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk X4 will run on anything that can run Control4 OS 3.3.1+. This means that CA, EA, and CORE are all supported, but any HC controllers are not. Also the T3 Touchscreens, EA On-Screen Experience, and Gen 1 & 2 lighting will be supported for the initial update to X4 (4.0.0), but won't receive Home Screen, Routines, or any of the new UI and these devices will no longer be supported in a project at the next release following the initial launch of X4 (4.0.0). cdcllc, rea and Andrew luecke

Thanks. And are projects still going to be run through composer pro? Does this change the back end or just the interface?

What I'm aware of at this point is that 4Sight will likely exist through the life of Control4 OS 3, so any customer with 4Sight should continue to have it until OS 3 software has been fully end of lived, until then OS 3 will continue to receive bug fixes and security patches, but feature development in major OS releases will move to X4. Yes, X4 setup & configuration will work with Composer Pro 4.0.0+ Most visible changes will be made in the interfaces, but there are also some backend changes not a complete ground up overhaul or anything though. Darin, PM C4 CX Platform
17 minutes ago, Topspin14m said: Awesome. Is there a way to apply for the beta? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Control4 dealers can join the closed beta by working with their sales managers to be referred into the official beta program under NDA. However, any Control4 dealer will get an email with info on how to join early access for X4, which is targeted to begin early Q1 2025. Any Control4 customer can also join early access for X4, but it will require that they work with their dealer and are referred for the new early access program since that dealer will be responsible for updating and servicing the system through the early access period.
