House72 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Hello All We have three Apple TVs in our home, and one keeps disconnecting from the C4 Remote. My only option at that time is to restart the Apple TV. Is there any way to fix this. Quote
ekohn00 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 my understanding, if they're on ios18 you need to wait for a fix. or use IR or the intrinsic driver works House72 1 Quote
RAV Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Apple's identified their issue. Waiting on Apple. https://status.snapone.com/ IBZICON, macosr and BY96 3 Quote
slim42dog Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I hope they can fix and bundle it with the release of TVOS 18.1 on 10/28 South Africa C4 user 1 Quote
Amr Posted October 18 Posted October 18 It’s ridiculous that we have to reboot Apple TV’s every single hour!, it’s very random now, we have one in every room and it’s super annoying to do this to all 7 of them, feels like Home Assitant early days! Anyways, am installing tvOS 18.1 beta and will let you know the good news (if any!) Quote

Amr Posted October 19 Posted October 19 No, 18.1 beta does not work, same issues, I had removed Apple TV Control from C4 app an re-add it, added the remotes back and removed the old EA from Home app, let’s see if this will work Quote
Amr Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Okay so far so good and still working since the remove and re-add and for sure it’s a HomeKit issue, exactly like we have to remove Sonos and re-add it back for it to work with HomeKit, I’ll closely monitor this and will report back if there are any issues, am on IOS 18.x on all Apple devices Quote
Amr Posted October 20 Posted October 20 I can confirm it’s working without issues now for all ATV’s, so all u need to do is to turn off ATV control in C4 app and re-enable it, then in home app accept the discovered controller and remotes, remove old controller, that’s it! shawkyns Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Maybe. There is still a bug. Mine works until it doesn’t using the re-add. On 17 it was rock solid. Quote
Amr Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Am on 18.1 beta on ATV, it’s working fine for more than 48hrs now so I can assume it’s solid till now and they fixed this bug already and will be released end of this month AFAIK. Quote

Have you tried a Director reboot? That is when I loose my connection to ATV (other than that, TVOS18 is rock solid for me). Quote

I don’t believe a director reboot is the answer, Apple screwed on their side and they need to fix this, it’s a HomeKit issue, they start missing with it sometime ago where I had to completely reset my Sonos Speakers and re-add for HomeKit to work with it again, I had spent hours trouble shooting HK issues sometime ago and they are very slow in resolving things, the “default room” issue toke them a year to resolve and we had to re-implement things from scratch for HK to properly work with C4 accessories. Removing ATV from the app and re-enable it fix it for me without a director reboot. Quote

What I am saying is that in my setup I don’t lose connection except when I do a Director reboot. Thus I am asking if you have done a Director reboot and if the Apple TV remains connected after the Director reboot? Quote

From what I know, eventually you will loose connection to ATV’s randomly, only way now is to do what I did, no need to upgrade ATV to 18.1, just disable/enable ATV control as I explained and u’ll have back ur ATV control like tvOS 17. I’ve been on TV OS18 since a day or two after it came out publicly and literally only have the problem after a Director reboot. Quote

Had to reboot the Apple TVs only a couple times after a director reboot and they’ve all been fine since then for me on tvOS 18. Quote
ekohn00 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I’ve just loaded 18.1 last night (release candidate) fingers crossed….. I’ll give it a few days, then try rebooting the controller to see if it fails or not. Quote
ekohn00 Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Well I installed 18.1 3 days ago. Unfortunately when I used the system last night and tonight it was disconnected. When I reset the appletv it reconnects Quote
