Hello,

We've just completed a large project migration from Radio RA2 to Radio RA3 with Control4 integration.

As part of the migration, we have a Lutron VCRX device, which uses “Pulse Output Closure” to trigger a Garage Door Opener.  This was integrated with Control4 using Radio RA2, and was working great.

After the migration to Radio RA3, and the LEAP Driver for Control4… I am unsure about how to trigger this “Pulse Output Closure” using the Control4 Lutron RA3 LEAP Driver.

I did not see a LEAP "VCRX Driver” (like there was in the old Radio RA2 and Control4 integration).  So, instead, we tried adding a “Lutron LEAP CCO Module” driver, and set the HRef to the “/button/7657” (from the Lutron Designer Integration Report)… but that did not seam to work.

Anyone have any experience/suggestions re: how to configure the Lutron LEAP Driver for Control4 to be able to trigger the VCRX in Radio RA3?  (the Control4 LEAP Driver Documentation do not seem to cover this use case)

Thank you in advance.

Wish I could help you but unfortunately have no clue. But I am curious of the benefits you have seen for the Ra2 to Ra3 migration, both from a Lutron standalone perspective and from the Control4 integrated one. I have a pretty stable reliable 125 devices (2 main repeaters) installation managed by Inclusive and integrated to Control4 via Telnet/IDs. All the Lutron devices I have would be compatible with Ra3 but I would still have to replace my 2 main and 3 aux repeaters (min $1k), learn new software (heard it is easier and better so not huge deal but time), redo some programming in both Lutron and Control4. I am curious what would be the benefits of doing so. Thanks and I hope someone can help you with your request. I use Control4 with a relay to control my garage doors and it works great. As an additional benefit, you can also use a sensor to check open/close status. Happy to help if you can't find a solution to your problem. It can be done either wired or wireless depending on wiring/distance.

We have a similar set-up in this project.  ~180 devices on 2 main repeaters, and 3 aux repeaters.  Overall I'm pretty happy we did the upgrade.  The initial migration to RA3 was pretty simple / straightforward (after you first complete the migration to RA2 v12.10, which was a pain on a UniFi network, as firmware upgrades on the Main Repeaters will often fail unless you turn off IGMP snooping, which took me ~15 tries before figuring that out!).  You do however have to do non-trivial amount of re-programming in Control4, though the new Lutron LEAP driver does do a lot of the initial port for you.  The benefits I've seen so far: (1) The Lutron Designer software for RA3 is much more reliable than the version for RA2.  (2) Surprisingly, I've noticed significant performance improvement between Control4 and the Lutron Repeaters, which makes everything feels much more responsive.  (3) There are some additional functionality in the LEAP driver which are nice, though I haven't figured out how to make them all work (e.g., Press-and-Hold, and Multi-Tap on RA2 Keypads).  I am having issues with the VCRX as noted in this thread, as well as with the Occupancy sensors Control4 integration.

I do use a sensor for the Garage Roll Door status, fully integrated with Control4 for state... which works great.  I only use the VCRX to 'trigger' the Liftmaster Garage Door Opener to "Open / Close" -- it's really such a pain after Liftmaster changed to their secure protocol and got rid of any useful 3rd-party integration.  If you have any suggestions for better/reliable integrate into a Liftmaster with Control4 (especially for Open/Close) -- I would love any suggestions :-).

Thanks!

If you have any suggestions

First off, all the lutron piece does is close a relay, so you vcould just as easily wire it to a C4 piece eXCEPT that i assume the user has Lutron in-car visors.

Alternatively you could wire a C4 controlled relay (controller/Z2IO) TO the VCRX and trigger an input on it, tell Lutron to open the door when input is received.

If Garagdget get's that piece working with the security2+ without the extra device we'll be all over it. The need for a two piece setup for new doors just means we solder to an extra opener and use security sensors for open/close state....
