wpervaiz
hey guys,Heres my problem: I had a 6 button keypad and a wireless outlet switch identified to a project. Now I need to take these two devices out of the old project and identify them with a new, different processor. No matter how much I try, I cant get them to be recognized over zigbee. I tried resetting the keypad (button 1 nine times, button 3 nine times, button 1 nine times) and the outlet switch (identify button 9 times), but even after a factory reset they wont identify themselves.Other devices that I paired for the first time like a wireless thermostat identified itself on first attempt. I'm not sure how I can get previously used devices workign with new projects. Any ideas are appreciated... thanks!
ILoveC4
Is the new project running 1.8 or higher (Zigbee pro)?Make sure both projects are running either 1.8+ or 1.7 and older.

thecodeman
You have to do the button taps to get it to leave the mesh. Have you checked the knowledge base? It's all in the release notes.

wpervaiz
what if the last secure network doesnt exist anymore? What if i just moved the processor to a different location without unlinking everything first?
ILoveC4
It doesn't matter...it is still connected. Leave the old secure mesh, and then you will be able to join the new one.
Bullseye
I have a similar problem. I got this used switch, it actually controls the light but the dealer can't identify it in my system. How do I get a switch to "leave the old secured mesh"? if thats the problem??Thanks for your help!Note, when I do 7-4-7 to Check zigbee channel the led change to white and that all it do. When I powered the switch it stay with 2 orange leds until I touch it then it changes to blue.
dgbrown
Try 13-4-13. That should be the magic button sequence to leave and factory reset.Edit to add: 4 taps to the top will identify that same device. This all assumes you're at running 1.8 zpro and the device is running zpro already. Otherwise there are other considerations.
Bullseye
Thanks for your help.I am running 1.74The 13-4-13 should still work??Thanks again
dgbrown
13-4-13 will work to leave the mesh in 1.74 environment and 9-9-9 for a factory reset.I can't be certain based on your facts but it is possible that "pre-owned" dimmer is on 1.8 zpro and your system (as stated) is not. There's no way to downlevel the dimmer in this case.Post back and let us know how it goes.
Bullseye
I tried the 13-4-13 but don't got any led flashing or visual confirmation it did anything. Is that the way it should be??
dgbrown
Try 5-5-5 or 9-9-9 (the former for embernet zigbee reset and the later will do a factory reset). (contrary to my prior statement, I think 13-4-13 maybe zpro only).
ILoveC4
9-9-9 should do the reset (if I recall).I'm pretty sure the 13-4-13 is zigbee pro only.
Bullseye
the 5-5-5 does a lot of flashing.!! I did the 5-5-5 and the 9-9-9 but still can't be identified. When did the 9-9-9 the after the flashing both leds stay yellow unitl I touch the switch. Thanks again!! dgbrown
Did you or your dealer by any chance change the channel on your zserver ?Edited to add:Or by some chance did you install the dimmer upside down, eg. the top button is now the bottom - no this wouldn't be the case if the above key sequences worked. Bullseye
No, the zserver channel has not been changed. My dealer don't have any embernet switches so I got this one on fleabay. The seller says it's 1.7I don't want to go zpro yet. My dealer recommended to wait for 2.0Thanks a lot.
nibornm
Thanks dgbrown that 13-4-13 sequence is what I needed too.It enabled me to take a 3-button keypad from an old project, release it from the settings it had stored and change the LEDs from all blue to all green. After that I was able to identify the 3-button keypad as I needed too.Note:The 9-9-9 sequence would not release it from the settings or turn the LEDs green
jmb
AND never forget the basics. After hours of resetting a switch, i decided to check the wires and found a wire had come lose. All is good now.
