Letran
Does motion detecting slow down the controller? If you want to use the motion detector function of an POE IP camera do you still need to connect a contact/relay separate from Ethernet/RJ45 connection on the switch? Thanks
RyanE
What kind of motion detectors? Are you talking CardAccess ones, or hardwired ones?If hardwired, they'll be wired into the IO Extender or a Contact/Relay extender, or something else. The dtserver process on the box they're wired into takes some of the processing itself, and just passes the changes on to the controller itself, so no, they don't take a lot of resources.Even the ZigBee ones don't take too much resources from the controller, although typically your master may be processing ZigBee as well as running Director.Bottom line, it's a message of 'detecting' and then 'not detecting', which is not much data.RyanE
RyanE
Oh, and to answer your other question, yes, if your camera has a relay or contact closure output on motion sensing, that would have to be fed back into a Control4 contact input somewhere in the system (or a security panel input, or a CardAccess Contact Input module, etc.).RyanE
