What is meant by when a kwikset door lock says Control 4 capable mode?

Trying to understand can this Kwikset deadbolt door lock just be added to my C4 system, and at that point it's already to go?

Or does this mean that it still needs the ZigBee Control Card to be added to it, in order for it to work within the Control4 network?

What's the " U "mean next to the word READY ?

That sticker means that yes, it does have the Zigbee board installed and it is all ready to go.

I second Alans questions, where did you find this?

Of course, the sticker could have been put there by mistake. The Zigbee card is easy to see if you open the box. It is on the interior side of the lock, under the cover, right in front of where the batteries go. There will either be a blank insert there, or a zigbee board.

Please...share where you found this and how much it is for sale for. If Home Depot has these now, that's huge.

I don't believe Kwikset sells the lock with the ZigBee functionality anywhere other than through Official Control4 Dealers.

I suspect the U means Upgradeable, in the same sense that your VW Bug is upgradeable to a Ferrari, if you just replace the engine, then all the parts around it.

:)

As far as I know, Black and Decker does not sell the ZigBee boards separately from the lock, so the fact that it's upgradeable is somewhat of a moot point.

Sorry.

Mine all have the U on them and they head the zigbee card.

Sure looks like it. I'd bet this place is a clearance shop, they probably bought them from a going out of business dealer or the like.

At least that'd be my guess. My best estimation is that it looks like it'd work, as long as it's the 'zpc4' model.

Assuming they're really the right one (and they have the ZigBee daughterboard), you'd still need a dealer to add them to your project.

I see there is " Only 1 left in stock"..

I did order two this morning when there was a total of 10. Then realized my garage door doesn't use a deadbolt, and changed my order to just one.

Just got an email 45 minutes ago, that they put the one back in stock.

Good luck,

David
