Disable Thermostat Program

I understand there are sometimes some quirks (or poorly documented functions) in how the thermostats work. Can a knowledgable person confirm that setting the program for every day to be "disabled" (i.e., "Enabled" in ComposeHE is NOT checked) is correct if I want there to be no programmed changes?

What would happen if I then take it off "Permanent Hold"? No effect, right? That is, without a program enabled, it will just stay at whatever temperature is set regardless of whether "Hold" is enabled?

That seems logical, I just want a definitive answer if there is one.
