arboleda Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I'll need to count the stations. I think there are at least 12. They've got brown faceplates on them now and the white ones were never used (so they're brand new). I've got two of the base units that everything connects, and 1 doorbell station in oil-rubbed bronze.Let me know if you have questions. I'll try to figure out a fair price (haven't looked to see what they sell used for yet) but you're welcome to make an offer in the meantime. If you have any problems with them, I'll take them back from you but you'll pay shipping both ways.
ILoveC4 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 What kind of wiring is required between the units? Particularly the doorbell. I'd be curious to see what you want for them. My parents are getting older, have a lot of stairs in their home and could use an intercom system.
arboleda Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 On the wiring, each indoor unit needs a Cat5 and the doorbell station needs a cat5.I've been really busy (just switched jobs) so I haven't been able to look into pricing yet but I at least wanted to answer your question about the cabling. The nice thing about these is that they work particularly well if in-ceiling speaker wire has been run, AND if that wiring runs through the wall near the door where you'd put the intercom. You connect the speaker wiring into each intercom unit and then there are outputs that run to the speaker. When an intercom event occurs, it plays the intercom communication through the in-ceilings (thereby muting whatever was playing). Whenever an intercom event is not playing, the speaker wiring is just pass-through.If there aren't in-ceiling speakers you'd have to get some additional Russound parts (little speaker that goes next to the Russound intercom unit) and use a 2-gang box, one being the intercom, and the other being a mini-speaker that Russound sells.Hope that makes sense...
