tbear1
Can a C4-RWB57C-M back box be used for rough in? This is the retrofit part, but can it be nailed to a stud in the place of the new construction part?I have been told it can, but it doesn't make sense for C4 to sell two parts then.ThanksGlenn
nikon
Think of it kind of like this, you can use a monkey wrench to hammer in a nail. Should hardware stores still sell hammers? In other words you can get it to work but it is not the right tool for the job.
AtticMonkey
Put screws into the top and bottom corners on the stud side on an angle into the stud. Why not just wait until drywall is up and then cut in the box?
tbear1
I bought the correct boxes. The retrofit boxes have a lip around the opening to prevent them from 'slipping' back into the drywall. AtticMonkey is correct, you can make them work but I don't trust the LV installers to do it properly and get them flush. Glenn
