    Server Rack advice?

Why is vertical power distribution better? 1. Vertical is usually 0U, meaning it doesn't take up any horizontal rack space. 2. It means shorter and cleaner runs for your devices since you don't have to go up/down with your power runs.

  2. Hello - I hope someone can help me with an alternative for my Sonos setup. System Overview: I have a EA3 controller that works with with my Sony 5000ES receiver. The system is in the basement away from my living room 5.1 setup. Control4 manages the receiver, Sonos, Roku, Oppo, xBox and a DoorBird. I gave up connecting Oppo, XBox and DoorBird after multiple attempts. This might be a topic for another thread. This was a new build about 2 years ago and the dealer did all wiring of house and involved from the beginning. Sonos Overview: Sonos has really been the major disappointment in my system and looking for help. If I want to listen to Sonos on my main system in living room I use the following steps: Turn on control4 and select Sonos. Start a Sonos favorite station. Then I go into my Sonos app and add the other Sonos zones to my main room so I can select other music options. I still have to control volume for main room from control4 as the dealer had the Sonos volume fixed So it’s quite a process to get everything up and running, additionally controlling volume from two places on multiple zones is frustrating Potential Sonos Fix: I’ve learned my Sony STR-ZA5000ES receiver has music connect option. I could link my Sonos connect to receiver via optical and provide the MAC address. This option sounds like i could break free from control4 and manage music everywhere via Sonos app. My dealer said this wouldn’t work or cause issues in my system? Looking for a second opinion? I’m afraid to try it on my own as I could cause issues with control4 and receiver, requiring another service call. I appreciate any advice.

@LollerAgent - Thanks. That makes sense. I have ordered a 20 outlet vertical PDU for my rack.

  4. Just change it in the avr itself. You should be able to assign what HDMI goes to what input.

  6. Composer 2.9.1 use driver wizard. Add all possible switching commands under custom codes. IN1OUT1, IN2OUT1, IN3OUT1, etc. When it's time to put the serial codes in, use quotes for ASCII commands like this "01V01." make sure to put a period . after each command inside the quotes. Try a couple of codes first to make sure it's working, then put in the other 62 codes. I made a 4x2 driver with Driver Wizard fairly quickly, about 20 -30 min, but it was only 8 codes. it might take a while with 64 codes.

  7. So I have two Control4 systems on my iPhone (mine and my parents). I use the homebridge driver on both of them, and the iOS Home app automatically picks which home to display based on my location when I launch the app. I find it really useful and since I know there are some Control4 iOS devs on here, wanted to pass on a feature request: Have the mobile app use the phone/device’s location to automatically pick the right project to load up.
