  1. My office has started a youtube studio for our products. Since we have the equipment I am looking to invest in the time to creating a composer home training course. To start this will be focused completely for the consumer side and we may do some videos that are dealer specific if it is popular. Just wanted to see whom here may be interested and hopefully I can help you better your own automation and home setup. Below are a few of the topics we are looking to cover. Any suggestions on what you may want us to cover or that i missed? Hope to start filming soon! Composer Hom

  2. Hey C4Forums Community. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jonathan Brown, I work for Control4(SnapAV) Customer Interface group. I am a Senior Software Engineer on the iOS team. I plan on spending time in the forums off and on to check in to see if I can help troubleshoot and resolve posts where I can and or direct your issues that might need additional help to others in our organization who might have more of an impact on issues I see being posted. I am looking to be a resource to help solve as many community issues as I can. - Jonathan Brown Senior Softwar

    2.6 Considerations

This is intended as a comprehensive list of limitations that the 2.6 system software version has when updating from earlier version. Other than new features that have specific device limitations, this is NOT intended to discuss the new features 2.6 introduces. As I come across additions or changes to make to this post I'll try and keep it updated to the best of my knowledge. Initially at least it may be missing some of the info, there's a fair bit. First of all, let's make clear that 2.6 is a MAJOR update. While the system software version number may not suggest so, it should be seen

  4. All, I've posted on my remote integration services thread. I've switched to the engineering field, and while I couldn't be happier, I simply do not have enough time to provide quality programming services at this point. It's been a pleasure getting to know all of you, this industry truly changed my life. I'll still be around, but not nearly to the degree that I have been. I wish everyone well, and I appreciate the business relationships and trust that have been built through this platform. A huge thank you to the guys that were at Cytexone, especially Dan. 5. Ok... Generally I've been fairly quiet for the last year and mostly just reading the threads watching for new C4 stuff or other interesting 3rd party items, and or ideas. But I had to pop in and post before slinking back into the shadows... Are you always this nasty to people and are you yourself a dealer, hopefully not mine if you are... I ask because many of your posts trend towards not so nice. The OP said he just upgraded, didn't say he did it and didn't say he didn't do it. I think most of us assumed he upgraded via his dealer who didn't inform him of possible issues, conflicts, o

    2.10 meltdown

For all others, I may have missed: Thank you for taking the time to update. At Control4 we strive for quality. We take negative online threads like this very seriously, whether from dealers or homeowners. We need to get these issues resolved quickly. Below I provide ways to work with us to resolve them, including working with me directly. Here are the items from this thread that we acknowledge. We know that in some cases lighting scenes don’t always sync up after the update. A simple re-sync of the lighting scenes does fix the problem. We are working on a fix that should be availabl

First, I want to say that his thread is intended for use as information on the new requirements for 2.10 and is not intended to discuss it’s new features or their merit, other than listing any relevant features themselves. As such please refrain from such discussions or arguments on this thread – to keep this one ‘clean’ for information purposes. Should you see any errors or missing info on here, feel free to mention it and I will update the main article. Chances are I'll add items on here as more of the smaller details get clear. Good news with both Alexa and Google with the NATIVE control4 integration - no 3rd party drivers, you can now talk to the dot/mini/whatever and say turn the lights on/off and it will know the room you are in and turn the lights on/off! Awesome right? I know this post is going to lead to more questions but I'm tired of all the random questions. Alexa In order to make this work in Alexa you have to setup Groups. 23. Hiya This driver provides an easy way to setup images with Control4 push notifications. The driver supports authentication with both types (Basic & Digest). This will let you setup any camera snapshots to be shown in a Control4 push notification! Your camera driver does not need to be updated for this to work. All you need is the snapshot URL, the authorization type (if required), the username and the password! (That notification was triggered manually, hence nobody at the gate) https://www.blackwiredesigns.com/store/control4-push-notification-images/

  24. Thought I would share a few pics of a new install I did changing out my Truck Radio and Controls with a 12.1 touchscreen. The screen uses an Android based operating system and you can download most apps available for android to the device. Downloading the C4 app was seamless and allows for full control while on wifi or wifi hotspot. Also, does Carplay and has an HDMI input for use with a streaming device like Apple TV (shouldn't do while driving of course). All of the trucks AC controls move to touchscreen as well.

    Drivers for Control4

Also to add to this the economics of driver development are like any other piece of software. You have expenses (Employee salaries, computers, software, office space, etc) that need to be paid and as such have a minimum rate to ensure that what you are building is profitable. Some drivers are cheaper as they are less time / resource intensive and others will require muliple programmers, graphics designers, etc to contribute for the project. As such one off projects are definately cost prohibited. We have had customers pay us for custom development and they have justified it as the money th

    Dealer Login?

Uhuh. You didn't ask that at all, you specifically asked for a log-in to an account or a link to set-up an account. I suppose you could argue that that second one is in some strange for a way of asking how to sign up to be a dealer, but come on... a google search would have given you the sign up for a dealer link, so would coning to control4.com and looking around. You have ZERO grounds to get all high and mighty here.

  28. Nothing against you wanting to get gear for cheap. Who doesn’t want that? You’ll just have to put in the time negotiating and comparing dealer’s prices against each other. I do however have to roll my eyes at the ‘marginal’ comment. I mean really? Don’t start commenting how you think a business model should be structured, then make a comment like that. No expense is ‘marginal’ when you run a business. Overhead? Insurance? Training? Employees? Tools? Software? K-Cups? Pens? TeamViewer license? Marginal! Again, you wanna fish for someone to sell you gear on the cheap, go f

First, always remember that experience buttons can be displayed in many menus by choice, so you have more freedom in where they show up. Let's start breaking them out first into a few 'types' if you will: *"Basic" built for purpose options. These are really basic options, generally they fall under the UI buttons catagory. No real programming function, but added to enhance visual options and diversity. Examples are PS4, HDMI, Component, Cassette, Chromecast an

  35. Hey all, just wanted to share this with you. Seems to be one of those things that works great for some, and barely works for others. I'm definitely in the "barely works" category. Since a bunch of my customers keep requesting them, I can't just turn a blind eye to it. Nor am I a big fan of the USB-IR adapter. So after weeks of working on this, I think I figured out a way to resolve this and wanted to share my results with everyone. This has been tested on both Fire TV Stick and Fire TV box. The main issue seems to be (or at least from what I've noticed) is if the Fire TV falls aslee

    2017 Thoughts for Control4

I just finished a very nice conversation with someone from C4 corporate that reached out to me after reading comments here. It is clear that there are corporate lurkers here that are interested in the end user and how best to strike a balance between the needs of the dealers and those of those non-dealers who have an interest in exercising control over their systems (and presumably the technical ability to do so). I won't share any specifics other than to say that I'm confident my concerns (and those of many others) have not only been heard, but are clearly understood. I suspect there

Indeed. Unfortunately - the button wasn't working at some point, so I had to go and fix it. Came over late in the day and they had one of their parents visiting. The fastest way for Apple / Google / Microsoft to get into this space will be through acquisition. There are plenty of HA firms available, yet n
