    OS3.2.3

On the mobile side it really doesn't take away resources to work on those areas. We have developers working on all 3 of the areas mentioned by @wnpublic. Media wall does have an important place in the platform and has been highly requested feature allowing dealers more lines of revenue than they previously had before. This didn't come at a sacrifice to intercom or performance issues that are also being worked on. Those previously mentioned pain points each have their own unique challenges and problems to work through but are of high priority to the dev team to resolve. I hope that calms any fears about the focus of work.

  3. Personally I would start with one make sure you like it before investing too heavily even though it's a lower cost point you still don't want to be in a place where you're unhappy with the experience

  4. MikroTik hAP AC v2 for ~$90. Set it up and forget about it. Can download phone app if needed. Plenty of YouTube videos to show you how to configure anything you’d want. For WiFi, go Ruckus Unleashed and then again, set it up and forget about it. Not sure why everyone is talking about all these updates for this and that. I, if at all, update my network maybe once a year. Really for any required security patches. UBNT is a child’s toy. Basically, created to make anyone “feel” like they’re a network engineer. Edge switches are about the only thing solid that they make and what I usually use.

  5. Just to give folks balance to what looks like a horror story of issues, I have not had anything like the experience above with my UDM-P in my home network aside from the initial restore from backup which was a convenience issue more than a stability issue. I'm not sure what defines small network or not but my home system has a UDMP, 11 Switches, a mix of 10G/2.5G/1G/100/10 devices, Unifi VOIP, WAN failover, VLAN/firewall configuration for video and IoT with past Unifi APs and now Ruckus. Sure there have been a few minor quirks but glad to say its been solid so far. The UDMP is actually one my favorite pieces of gear from them... a crazy value for what it offers.

  7. TP-Link work just fine. Just be aware that while on/off/dim will be instantaneous, feedback on state will lag behind. That's because the driver will be polling for state only every 10 seconds +. In other words, the touchscreen will show the light as off for a few seconds, even after you turn it on. Not really an issue for your use case. The driver for TP/Kasa is from Chowmain and is easy to set up and robust, assuming that you have solid wi-fi. The switches use a 2.4 network, not 5 GHz.

  8. it also seems like your friend is your dealer so its a different story. If I was a dealer it would be hard to support each client's tablet. Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Lenovo and whatever other branded Android tablet you can find. When a client calls and says my touchscreen isn't working they have to know what OS and with Android it can be different flavors, etc, its not easy to always troubleshoot and fix and their time is money. So yeah that is likely why they tend to quote a T4, they know how to troubleshoot, they have access to RMA the device, they have access to tech support and its dedicated so its not another app you installed that crashed the device. If you are more DIY oriented, if a friend is setting up your system, if you aren't using security cameras if you arent using Intercom access etc and you want to save a few dollars and dont mind the extra loading time of waking up the tablet, loading the app, etc.....Well you have your answer. But that setup isn't the norm (a DIY with a friend doing the install, etc) the beauty of C4 is there usually isnt a 100% right or wrong method...

  9. This is just FUD. A current generation 10.2" iPad with a nice wall mount and POE converter would be less than half the list price of a 10" T3, let alone a T4. And the T3s, especially the smaller ones, don't look particularly great on wall in any event.

  10. As above, they're fantastic connectors, but their size make them unwieldy for patch panels. Usually reserved for more heavy duty setups, not for a standard 'distributed music' amp setup.

I just can't understand why we can't have the Ultra (which already had everything the 'new' stick+ has, and is on sale for the same price as the stick+ at the moment) directly available in Canada....or why they still have an 10/100 instead of 1000 ethernet jack on the latest Ultra for that matter. Screw WiFi....

  12. Hi, I have a beta version of a C4 driver to obtain cloud cover for any location on the map. If you want to trigger an event on a cloudy day and don't have a light sensor, this could be a solution. Since this is a first release I don't recommend adding this driver to your customer controllers at this time. I still have a few minor issues to work out and also need to write documentation. The driver uses https://www.tomorrow.io/ API to retrieve the current cloud cover for the latitude and longitude obtained from the project, however values can be manually changed. You must register with https://app.tomorrow.io/signup to get an API Key which you will need add to the driver. The Free plan is good for 500 API calls per day / 25 calls per hour / 3 calls per second. If you are paranoid and need to make more API calls, a paid plan is available. I have no affiliation with tomorrow.io, just found their service to be the most reliable. The driver was only tested on 3.2.2 and is not guaranteed not work on anything older. Please don't share your API Key (The key shown below is for illustration only, don't try to use it in your system as it's invalid.) HTTP GET is a required command before you set up any conditions. If configured correctly HTTP GET will update the CloudCover field in the driver when driver is called. When you set up a condition for the driver, Cloud cover value will not display in the Actions, PARAM2 will show instead. (I am still working on this problem) At this time you can only see the selected value if you enable the debug on the driver. Feel free to post your results here or email us directly if you have any problems with the driver. GetCloud.c4z

  13. That's crazy. It's like they're making their stuff *less* universal. I'd bet dollars for donuts that if you cut it at the 'cut' line, you could scrape off the coating and find the exact same 4 pads that you could use elsewhere, but it wouldn't have "their" connector on it. RyanE

  14. Like most of the topics on this forum. This topic is back in the spotlight with the myQ upgrade to the v6 of their API. This broke a lot of the open source integrations as they deprecated their v5.

  15. @videostorm, can 3rd parties develop apps for a tile or can those only be done internally? How much customization can be done within a tile? - If someone came to our front door can it pop up the two cams that cover that area? - Could I customize a weather tile to include air quality info? How difficult to pull data in from other sources like from a TSI Assure AQM or IQAir AVP? - Can the C4 app be a functional PIP? - Create a tile for Security Spy NVR? Plans for IOS and TVOS versions? Thanks,

  16. We actually DID take the time to develop what is probably the worlds most configurable Screen Saver (SplashTiles). You can do exactly what you were asking for, with lots of panel (tiles in our lingo) options to choose from. Works on all Android devices, so it "should" work on the C4 touchscreens. Has anyone ever tried it? It is actually free..... I don't have a C4 touchscreen. Never made an IOS version.

  17. Of course they can, and I can disagree with them. Oh wait, right, no I can't. Actually curious on how me saying that I doubt an (3rd party) app developer is going to make an app that would involve a lot of work for a very small audience has anything to do with C4 in your mind at all?

  19. Caseta - Pro Bridge Required, controlled over IP. Each Lutron device has an id which gets assigned to the respective driver in Composer. While Caseta is intended to be a single bridge per residence system, others have done dual bridge systems to get around limits and range and multi building. You'd have 2 logins for the Lutron app and through Lutron they're completely separate residences, but it would all work as one under Control4. http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-custom/thread.cgi?39519

    Water leak detector

That is how I have mine set up. First is the auto water back up, then is my auto water off then are two lines - one internal and one for sprinklers. So if water is detected the auto water shut off turns off water to the house/sprinkler but the backup sump pump water can still flow. Only risk is that line/pipe isn’t what’s leaking. Luckily my piping is exposed so I can easily put eyes on it to see if the copper line running to water back up is whats leaking or not.

  24. There are new 10" iPads on Best Buys website for just over $300... even with your argument you could be saving people $1k's in cost by cutting each locations price in half with virtually no set back... while giving many more capabilities. I would rather move that clients money over to other parts of the system they would like to enjoy as well. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-10-2-inch-ipad-latest-model-with-wi-fi-64gb-space-gray/4901809.p?skuId=4901809 We all know you can get brand new previous gen units online without much difficulty as well. I am sure we all have different ideas on aesthetics but both of these iPad solutions are as (IMO more) clean and high end looking as any of the (very not zero edge) ugly dedicated panels from manufactures (Savant included). Especially now with the edgeless iPads/tablets out.

  29. I think 200' is pushing it for Caseta/ClearConnect. I'm not sure it would work reliably (or at all). You may be able to add a second Caseta bridge (no need for a C4 controller), but two bridges in one system can get rather messy afaik. What about WIFI based switches? TP-Link?

  30. The only reason I went with iPads is that I had them laying round after upgrading every year or two so why not? Again, I don’t use intercom or security cameras so I would probably rethink a T3/T4 if that were the case if the functionality doesn’t exist on the iPads. Frankly, I never use the iPads. As I said, I always have my phone or iPad with me and it’s easier to just use those - which I REALLY appreciate having. A fixed screen somewhere just wouldn’t get the use my phone or iPad in hand get. That’s a testament to the flexibility of C4, lots of options. Previous Crestron system had 1 VERY expensive touch pad in the kitchen but only used infrequently. I use the OS app a lot with C4. So if there is a central place and a plan for using a screen, then the integration of the C4 screens would be better to have IMO. Additional setups around the house may not need that integration so iPads/fire tablets may be a good option for less $$. I think it just depends. In fairness to the dealers, if you really want integration with everything and rock solid use, I would want them to explain why the T4 is a better option but would also want to know about the flexibility to use other tablets with pros and cons. If a touchscreen is used a lot for info or interaction, there is no substitute for the integration. The options are great to have as well though, but you have to know the limitations. And I already have the TP-Link driver and needed a few power strips for the SR-260s and Neeos to charge so there really was no additional cost and very little effort needed to set up the timer to void battery swell (not even sure I needed to bother with that any longer). The POE setup I am using needed to be wired so I had my installer run the Ethernet cable because it is the middle of a room (table top only option) and I wanted to see if I would actually use the touchscreen in that location before investing in a T3/T4, but the cable is there for whenever I want. The POE adapter was about $125 so figured it was worth the risk. Turns out, I’m glad I didn’t get the screen - for now. Again, may feel differently if we use IA and get cameras set up but the wiring is there for me if/when I’m ready.

  31. In my home I put the Room control driver to have the music button cycle through pre-set favorites/Playlists. Then I set-up a long press on that music button to switch off the music. You need to use the Timer agent for that.

  32. I meant it was here-say in that I won't quote him or list his name on the forum. It's not from a known, cited source. He, like many here, has a business model he needs to maintain and what he tells me in confidence as a friend I don't want to quote him on as I don't know if there isn't repercussions to his business if I do so. That's all I was trying to say.

    Molekule Driver

So I've got a bunch of Coway Mighty's (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/coway-ap-1512hh-mighty-air-purifier-review/ ) connected to cheap zwave on/off plugs. The Coway remembers its last settings on power on, so i have an automation that turns the zwave plugs on when exterior AQI exceeds 100, off when it drops below that threshold.

  35. Yes, i like these a lot. Our home cinema speaker come with Speakon connectors by default. Rock solid and they are locked when connected. However, on the rack side, they need quite some space so we usually wire them directly into the amps without a patch panel.

Get in touch to arrange a demonstration of the kit Here's two videos that give some hints of what's possible https://youtu.be/Z5v9kWD-Qa8 These drivers will be available to everyone around the world. If you buy from a UK or Belgian distributor, the drivers will be provided absolutely free.
