It only affects stuff like ssdp between vlans in certain cases. It's not an actual issue for barely anyone

I've only been selling Ubiquiti for 5-6 years so I haven't seen this wild and crazy product portfolio everyone seems to mention.

THawes reacted to zaphod in C4-AMP108 problem
There are a bunch of threads on this issue.  Meanwhile, I have a couple of C4-16AMP3-B that are older but keep ticking along.  That generation has been WAY more reliable than the C4-AMP108.
So buy a new amp or if you don't want to spend much money, get a used C4-16AMP3-B and you might even be able to fund that purchase by selling your matrix switch since you wouldn't need it any more.

I've seen a lot of terrible analogies on here but this might be the most ridiculous.
Why on earth would Blackwire not allow a new dealer to move these drivers to a new controller?

Yes, Bluestacks does allow you to do this, but Bluestacks in full of adware for games and is 99.9% focused on games and pushing you to install games. Being able to run the Android apps natively without needing anything would be useful.
In the Bluestacks world it seems that all "apps" are know as "games" - like this:

I have never really bothered trying to integrate cameras into Control4 (outside of DS2's at customers, and the Chime I am using myself now) because the interface, video quality, etc is lacking as has already been mentioned here.
I've used a Hik NVR, Milestone XProtect (great, free up to 8 cameras), and am currently using the Surveillance Station on a Synology NAS for my cameras, which I've been happy with. There is a web interface, a desktop app for Windows, and reliable iOS and Android apps that allow you to view live streams, see motions events/receive notifications, and watch recorded footage.

Chime ordered.  Can’t wait to ditch my Ring Elite.  Or for my wife to stop asking why she has to use a separate ap for the doorbell.
I’m really hoping the response time from hitting the button to triggering an event is much much faster and the time to establish a video chat session is near instantaneous.  Over the last couple years Ring seems slower and slower.

just watching the session on the Chime - very powerful.  Looks like some great features and very powerful driver.  Great integration with cloud recording and app.

Get rid of the mesh wifi.  Most likely that is your culprit.  Multicast is basically lost on those systems and that's what C4 relies on.
Return it and get proper networking gear.

Bear in mind, if these cameras are allowed to get out to the internet (even if you are not doing port forwarding to allow remote connections in to them) they can phone home and be connected to remotely. An adjustment of your NAT or firewall rules for the network you're on, and instantly they are more secure than before.
Again, they might get bored quick watching - but hey, figured I'd throw it out there!

Not having something and having it, but being less convenient are not the same thing.
I agree, soft buttons are not as convenient, but you are not *losing* the functionality, and saying Control4 has 'dropped' the DVR button could lead others to believe the functionality is not available at all.

you should probably not be using Control4 and spending so much time on this forum if you hate it so much and think its such a ripoff.  Also if you think that product pricing is based on the cost of the physical material, you are sorely mistaken.  The expensive part is the software, cost to develop, sell, maintain, and support the software and hardware properly.

funny how needs change - last year I would have hated this design because it has no physical # buttons and I could not channel surf on cable
A year later I cut the cord and use Hulu Live TV so I cannot easily go to various channels (which is annoying) but also makes the # buttons on the remote less important.

THawes reacted to jakblak in 4sight connection times on os 3
We have quite a few performance metrics inside of the OS3 app and one of those is cold-start time while remote (i.e. not on your local network) and the connection times in some regions, as many of you have experienced, is sub-optimal and outside of the range we feel is acceptable.  Obviously connection times are a YMMV type of thing that depends heavily on your home internet speed, size of your project, cellular signal, etc... but we definitely see connection times in these regions that fall outside of what is "normal".
While we are striving for faster connection times both locally and remote, our attention is fully focused on the customers in these regions where the connection times are higher than what the majority of our customers are experiencing.  As such, we have formed a cross-functional team to address the problem at a team level as well as holistically.
It will take us some time to make these changes and roll them out, but I wanted to let everybody know that we understand the difficulty and the frustration and we are committed to fixing it.
I have now received several reports about this and have received logs from @Anish (thanks btw), and I have an engineer looking into the problem as I'm typing this.  I will create a post (or update here) when we figure out, and fix the issue.

You give apple way too much credit. They are the ones that break things and own the API. Control4 can only leverage apis that apple makes available. You can blame control4 but that doesn't mean you are right.

is that Hc-800 a single core?  If so wouldnt a dual core 1.6 be better than a single core 1.8?  Again I dont know, and I am just assuming the HC800 is a single core.  I find it hard to believe they put a worse chip in the EA5 compared to the HC800.

You made it clear a dealer did the upgrade, LONG LONG after you were inconsiderate to the first person who responded to give you an answer. No points awarded for fully answering the question after you're rude.

I didn't cast aspersions until after YOU were inconsiderate (to the person who helped you). What does that say about YOUR reputation? I go out of my way, for no benefit, to help people DESPITE THEIR ATTITUDES.

It's NOT in C4's interest to let any DIY person do anything they want. This is the standard DIY argument made here 2098098x a year. See, you're proving my point about how your behavior SUGGESTS that you're not a legit user. You may be. But your behavior and attitude imply otherwise. (my attitude says I'm a grumpy old man who tried to answer your question).

The question was "Can you downgrade 3.0 to 2.10?". MY ANSWER was, "yes" and THEN I FURTHER POINTED OUT WHERE TO GET THE INFORMATION.
    /sigh

Ok... Generally I've been fairly quiet for the last year and mostly just reading the threads watching for new C4 stuff or other interesting 3rd party items, and or ideas.
But I had to pop in and post before slinking back into the shadows...  Are you always this nasty to people and are you yourself a dealer, hopefully not mine if you are... I ask because many of your posts trend towards not so nice. The OP said he just upgraded, didn't say he did it and didn't say he didn't do it.  I think most of us assumed he upgraded via his dealer who didn't inform him of possible issues, conflicts, or loss of functionality.  Believe it or not, not every dealer is amazing and covers these things.  Sometimes a client calls and says they want to upgrade and so the dealer upgrades them, no questions asked.
Yes you can read this thread and come to possible conclusions but why? What purpose does it serve outside of trolling someone. I'm sure I'll get accused of doing the same thing but if you look at my past posts you'll see that my MO is generally the same. There is no reason to be mean, nasty, ignorant, or otherwise to people.
With that said, back to the shadows and maybe someday I'll just learn to keep my mouth shut.
