I take it you're not a Caddyshack fan.  Not everyone has good taste...

I always thought that the EA1 and EA3 had the same CPU and Ram specs?

Part of the reason for this program is because there are so many C4 owners that have been abandoned by their dealer or have had conflict and parted ways, this gives the customer a way to deal with C4 to have issues resolved although I’m not sure how that’s going to go with how we’ve seen some systems are put together… they need a bomb not tech support
Another aspect is to let the integrator work on new jobs and not get bogged down with service requests which I think is a complete crock of crap, if you’re so bad at putting systems together and business in general that you can’t figure out how to put together a reliable system then service the minor issues that might crop up then C4 should have a mechanism is place to at least delist that dealer from the dealer locator
It’s embarrassing that Assist is becoming a thing but it speaks to the quality of dealers in general and not the C4 product which we find to be quite reliable. Other snap products like their amps and hdmi extenders are piss poor and we haven’t used them for a number of years

I would really like to know how Control4 plans to manage the Connect Feature of "Software Updates" they are selling to the end user in the marketing. It is very vague in the marketing material. "Control4 Connect provides access to software and security updates" I can see an end user assuming that this includes updates in the price? Which I don't think is the case. Its funny because every Control4 customer that has their system connected to the internet already has access to software and security updates through their dealer for a fee normally, if not on a service contract.  I understand why dealers charge for updates because it takes time and they are responsible for fixing any issues that might come up post update.

now that I am thinking about it, it would be nice to have a geo tag or Director ip tag based on wifi connection so when I am on a property and open the app it will connect to the current property and not the last connected.

Only way I have had success with Neeo's and Unifi is to create a separate network for each remote, and only broadcast that network on the 1 closest AP.

If you have space put a 1U vent blank plate between the EA-5 and your network switch...

I would not upgrade my HC800 to an EA series controller at this point. I still have a HC800 running 3.2.4 and it's great. The processor in the HC800 is a work horse.  I would be tempted to upgrade to a Core 3/5 in the future though, once new remotes drop and new features are added. jm2c!
