brucecampbell reacted to enzeder in New Router
If it's a standard fibre install you should be able to plug your new router straight into the ONT and you will be good to go, shouldn't need the netcom unit. Just have to make sure you tag the WAN traffic as VLan 10. Most routers in NZ have this option in the firmware so it works with the fibre network. Same for all the providers, ie chorus and the other UFCs, in my case UFF.

Ipoe is basically Ethernet passthrough. If wan is Ethernet, the NetComm isn't even needed
Otherwise, you should be able to turn off NAT or something similar probably
You probably need to speak to an installer tbh. Because if you swap equipment around, you'll need to ensure the new network is consistent anyway or c4 might break

brucecampbell reacted to RAV in IR Fault .... reared up again
As Alan mentioned, if the system is not receiving from the app the "stop ramping up command" due to a network issue, then modding the driver isn't going to solve anything.
Your experience where volume down was sent, and then it did a volume up, suggest a delay or it was still processing the original volume up command.
When the HC800 existed, were the IR plugged into it, or still the IO extender? Might try moving it to the Core5 directly, one less hop.
The only other thing to suggest (other than network) is to add a 1 sec or 1.5 sec timer to programming. When volume up start received, start timer, timer expires send volume up stop. Max volume up ramp would be limited to timer length.

I don't think that will fix it. I would put pressure on your dealer to resolve the issue as that most likely is not the issue.
If your dealer has issues resolving it they can escalate to Control4 tech support. They are there to help dealer's resolve scenarios such as this.

Awesome! It’s definitely easy to overlook a reboot. Funny how in 2023 the electronics/automation technician’s best tool is a simple power cycle.

Its a core5 and yes a reboot did not change the behaviour.
cheers.

On 3.3.3, ea3v2. I don't ever do lighting from the 260 (I actually realized that i barely use the 260 anymore).
But mine appears to work fine across different lighting platforms (c4, kasa, lutron, shelly).
I know that doesn't help, but I'm happy to share whatever data points you might want.

Interesting. I never use the SR260 for lighting but have just tried my light control and am getting some strange behaviour - essentially the same as your experience. Definitely buggy!

Thanks for the advice.
I think my HDMI to Component converter must be a limitation, 1080P did not work, but 720P is working ok.

Fix the output to 1080p in the driver for the controller. That should solve your problem

Unfortunately, this is the first time I've run into a Synology NAS thats limited to old versions of plex. I'd go into synology's package center and see if you can load plex.
it may not be the best running, but you can get an idea of what's available to you. if this is the environment you'd want, you can either add a plex server (can be an old pc rujnning plex) or upgrade your NAS to a newer one.
funny story.... those young kids got me into movie servers, I was amazed how in 3 minutes' time 100s of DVDs could be all over the floor and damaged. We still use plex for the latest and greatest movies, as well as TV shows, but time was there were a few movies that got plaid 100s of times when the kids were little. Our collection also goes back 20 years.

I doubt I'd use it much either, but I'm not using HDMI out of the core and the leaf matrix has plenty of pots, as it's hardly used these days either - might try to get it running now that I know its still available.

I'd recommend looking at Plex. It will provide you with the best overall experience.
I traded in my kaliedescape years ago and haven't looked back.

I have a mixed results with Infuse, I love it but it caches on your ATV, if u have lots of Apps and your ATV is 32GB, u will need to look else where aka Plex as Infuse will always reload contents and it’s annoying!

If you have an Apple TV, you might find the Infuse App is a better way of achieving this.

brucecampbell reacted to msgreenf in Greenfield Solutions: Receiver Driver re-release
We are excited to announce that our next driver is up for sale on Driver Central!
We have re-released receiver modes. For everyone not familiar this driver allows you to have a UI button to toggle between different modes on your receiver! It's a very cool way to have a UI button to such a simple task.
We have another idea to make this driver even better in the future - so standby for a potentially exciting update unlocking even more power!

brucecampbell reacted to Cyknight in Composer vs Director Versions
Composer full match was abandoned early in OS3 - so yes you are just fine.
Indeed you can always use a NEWER composer version on an older (os3.something, think it was 3.1) system as it will automatically (force you to) download the required 'management' package. Yes this works the same for HE as it does for Pro

brucecampbell reacted to booch in Rack cooling -- dealer liked it, so figured I'd share
Built my house with a closet in mind, but it lacked circulation and the components were running hot, especially with a dense rack. Threw this together with online parts (the main ones being a Cloudline T6 and a Tripp Lite exhaust duct) -- works great and is good for a ~20dg temp. drop (not shown, FYI) while reducing net noise due to fan speed. Sharing for inspiration/if helpful.

brucecampbell reacted to Matt Lowe in Alexa and Roku
You may get some conflicts with commands having them both set up. I would recommend reading the Alexa documentation to see what it can do. It shouldn't be too bad what ever device sends a command to it will just get handled like anything else. As far as what we use we now use josh.ai to do a lot of voice control and they have deep integration into roku. You can just simply ask for a show to play like. Hey, josh watch stranger things season 4 episode 3, or other similar commands. In this case, josh and c4 control the Roku independently. However, josh works tightly with control4 so that multiple of the same commands would be sent and Josh knows that the Roku is in the control4 system so it will properly update all of the relevant navigators. In fact, you can use the Josh app and the control4 app at the same time and they essentially work interchangeably.

brucecampbell reacted to terminaldisclaimer in Alexa Room Awareness Driver
Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that. One, you have very limited control as to what qualifies as room context aware in groups (this is an Amazon restriction). For example, lights, TV, thermostat. But not any trigger you want. Second, C4 intentionally cobbles their implementation so that most devices are not exposed correctly. So the net result is you can basically only do a few very basic tasks with room context, like turn off the lights.

brucecampbell reacted to Amr in A and B speakers for different Rooms
When u r done with your Controller upgrade I think you should take a look @ TriadOne, u can source a used one less than $350 and it will provide u with a seamless zone addition to your project.

Yeah, an EA is definitely a push forward 😄
