  1. They have had my system at level 2 support (I have a PRO contract for support) and they have not called me for a week - today when I called in they said that they were sending my system for a refund. Tonight two of my THREE satellites - th wireless ones went off line and when I called in they said - they are too far apart to connect - I said that they were 20 feet from the router line of sight with nothing in between - They said we are refunding your money. I hungup and took the Orbi system down - put the GOOGLE mesh that I had removed back in and was up in 20 minutes. I did not realize/remember how good a decent network really was - everything responding again - Wow Personally - I would not recommend he ORBI 960 system and here is why. 1. it does not work with OFX bulbs or theZ strips 2. the wireless signal is not very powerful - it had more dead spots than you could imagine in my house. 3. the best/highest WIFI speed I could get was 40 MBPS and some of the lowest spots were right near the satellites. If they were not giving me full credit I would be selling them cheap or setting them on fire in the courtyard while taking a video. The worst home automation 60 days of my life. Bill
  2. Regarding ping times - I was having 500-1200 ms ping times - time outs all over the place - the "fix" for that was the 1472 MTU change from 1500. It is not good at the moment but at lease I am connecting and not timng out. Bill
  3. uhhh - not trying to sell anyone on getting one - I would return i if I could. I am not happy. Since I am about $1600 into it I am a little stuck. The GOOGLE mesh worked fine - I thought thata this would be faster bigger and better. It is not - the WIFI is not as powerful as the google, there are way more problems - and I am still having issues. Read the above as things that I have done that have made it better and if you have an ORBI and are stuck with it and trying to make it work - here are things that I found were better. I am VERY interested in anyone else that has an ORBI and hearing their experience and if they got it working. Bill
  4. Preamble: First let me say that the Wemo and LIFx support people (while not fast) have been excellent and helped a lot. I will also say that Alan Chow with Chowmain drivers is fantastic and has helped a lot including doing an update to a couple of the drivers. Orbi's first tier support is really quite good - their 2nd tier has never responded so I have no idea how good or bad they are technically - only bad responders. That being said - I have 22 Wemo plugs and about 25 LIFX BR30s and a couple of lIF Z strips. These worked on my Google Mesh but not on the Orbi - I have found the wireless on the Orbi less powerful than I had imagined and the signal strength only allows me to get 30 mbps no matter where I am in the house. The biggest change was changing the MTU size from the default of 1500 to 1472 The Control 4 channels on my system are WELL above the channel 11 that we ended up using for Orbi - this works best for me but you should try others. Remember that it will take time for the cloud services of LIFX and WEMO to update and reconfigure when you change channels. Check your ping times - what I found was that the interference and large MTU size was breaking up the packets and they were timing out etc. My ping times are now down under 60 ms for hte most part and less than 10 percent of the packets are dropping. One must essentially (I will check this now that I have things working - I may start adding back some of the prior things that I disabled) gut the orbi system removing all traces of the ^E features that you wanted - and make it be a bare bones system with none of the high end features. As I successfully add ack things, i will try and update this thread so that those who follow will not have to have four weeks of a house gone psycho. Bill
  5. I am attaching the documentation for the SOL ARK Modbus interface - if there is anyone out there that could make a driver I would be interested. Modbus Sol-Ark V1.2(Public Release, READ-ONLY).pdf
  6. OK - after a very long session with C4 Technical support - it appears that the TIVO driver has "become corrupt". The recommendation is that we simply delete the current driver and put a copy of it back in and reconstruct - just waiting for a good time to do that. Bill
  7. This was replaced at no charge. Thank you. Bill
  8. I am having a similar issue - On MY announcements when it is done anyone watching a television gets (what appears to be) a "previous" command sent - this means that it switches to the previous channel. opening the door again will execute the "previous" again and you will be watching the original channel. I simply cannot figure out what the issue is that is causing it. I hope to get logs turned on today to trap what the issue is, if I figur it out I will post it here. Thanks, Bill
  9. While this thread is old - I have an 8 inch monitor that is less than 6 months old and it is got a huge ficker in it - it looks like an old tv that has lost its' horizontal hold. It is connected by WIFI and ETHERNET - there is nothing that I know of magnetic near it - it does it no matter how it is connected. Thoughts? Bill
  10. Sol-ARK supports the modbus protocol - just not sure I am smart enough to do anything with it. I looked at it and choked.
  11. This means that (since I have free "nights" from 8 pm to 6 am) and solar covers most of the days that I only need to cover electricity from 6 am till the sun takes over and from when the sun quits till 8 pm. Any overages for solar simply charges the battery during the day. So far this works a treat - my electric bill last month was a little less than ten dollars. I am using a HARRIS 31KW battery in case you are interested. Now - I currently use eGAUGE to monitor solar production and my current usage of electricity and in the summer if I am making more than using then I set the thermostats to 73 degrees - but if it is a cloudy day or not making solar then I set the thermostats to 77 degrees. What I would really like is a driver that works like the egauge and can tell me what the battery is currently doing. For some reason my solar guy does not think he can monitor the battery usage using egauge - has anyone done this yet? or do you have an interface to SOL-ARK 15 KW? Bill
  12. It appears that the Apple Store also has a Zank (remote Developer is Duc Ky Ngo) will this also work instead of getting it from the Google Store? Still interested if this is the best way to run Google Chromecast in Control 4 or is there is something native now?
  13. I have a question about this driver - I can purchase an Android TV Box 11.0 and get it installed - I (however) have no Android devices - all my phones are IOS (Apple) Do I need to have something to install or on constantly that is Android other than the TV Box to make this work? I read the directions and it looked like I have to download and install the App on an Android device that I do not have. Is this driver still the best option to use Google Chromecast in Control 4? Bill
  14. I did and my wife loves it! It simply works - not cheap but neither was the car. When you drive up the car beeps and the garage door opens. It also can (with the push of a button that pops up when you gett withn 100 feet) any of the other garage doors as well. (or close them) Thank you for the advice.
  15. If the house can know where the car is and it is within (for example) 100 yards of the house C4 could open the garage and when it leaves the geofence it could close the garage? that would obviate the need for HomeLink and the 300-400 dollar garage door opener on the Tesla. Will the driver be able to know the proximity of the vehicle to the house?
  16. I finally set up my closet this morning with an LED strip light so that I can have mood lighting in my closet. REALLY cool looking. The Mini finally works a treat! The update is perfect so far.
  17. I just got an email this morning that Chowmain has found and fixed the issue with WEMO Minis. You may want to refresh your driver if you have not already. This is a great driver backed by a great company. Bill
  18. It appears that Chowmain is having all their advances rebuffed by the WEMO Mini plug. It does not recognize the normal methods of communication. They are still working at coaxing it to work on my system with their driver.
  19. OK - ChowMain is currently working on this issue with the MINIS - they have gotten it so that control4 can at lease "see the plugs - but it cannot control them yet: the LUA looks like this: Bad Request - Invalid Header 11/12/2020 11:05:05 - Connected to WeMo. 20. OK - Got a special from Wemo on some Wemo MINI plugs and they do not seem to work with the driver. Just sent a note to Chowmain and they responded with "send us your logs" so be aware that seems to be a problem but may have a relief shortly for that as well. My regular plugs are working a treat now. Bill
  21. Great news! There was a problem - it was introduced in the last driver update. Chowmain has found the issue and re-issued the driver and it fixed all the issues. Get your WEMO chowmain driver updated and you should be fine! Really great support! Thank you! Bill
  22. Chowmain is working with the logs that I sent them - I have not heard back yet. I will let you all know the upshot/result of the issue.
  23. A further posting - now that this has been installed on my front door for several months, we love it When we go out with friends and they drop us off I used to have to open the garage door on my phone and go in that way - we can now walk to the front door and walk in. The battery still shows to be full - it is working a treat - I recommend this lock.
  24. This is a 12 foot tape LED lights for $9.98. It is remote controlled and if you pair this with the WEMO or other remote controlled switch you have a remarkably inexpensive LED lighting. The down side is only that you cannot control the colors with Control 4 - but you can with your handy little remote that comes with the package. So if you don't mind having a set color until you want to change it this is definitely the cheapest way to have LED lighting i have seen - Not for all people or situations but for a closet or under counter lighting it is pretty nice.
  25. Yes - I have contacted them and sent them the debug logs. They are not aware of this problem and are working on it. I agree that they have high quality drivers and I like them - not bad mouthing them at all here - just saying that this driver went south and I have no idea why. I am gratified to find that there is another person with the exact same issue manifesting exactly the same. it is REALLY irritating to not have your towel warmer come on or the fan at the foot of the bed or the fireplace lights not come on - orhte christmas lights not work or the solar indicator not come on to show that you are in positive electricity mode. Grin Bill
