  1. Thanks. That is cool and indeed a better price... I think it would be cheaper though to get a DiTek and just ground it.
  2. Thanks, I had already purchased a spool of Ubiquity Outdoor Shielded Cat5e so will run that as they were not super long runs to the attic switch and dont think I need Cat6 speeds for this application.
  3. Thanks, i was going to run the cat 5e in a conduit as well for protection.
  4. Thanks for the advice, I wasnt familiar with the DiTek but it looked a lot more robust than the Unifi and you only have to run one ground wire to the outside for multiple ports. I will likely place also on the exterior wall a Ruckus T310 since I'm pulling the wire anyway it's nice to get a better wifi signal outside as well.
  5. Thanks, this is not running to another building per se, its just running down an outside wall to devices that dont require high speed.
  6. Thanks, I read that also but not practical in this application for the points you note. I'm not overly worried about lightning but want to do what i can practically on the front end to reduce the risk.
  7. Hi All, I'm running for the first time a few network cable runs to my pool controller and future backup generator from my inside home network. My current plan is to you run outdoor rated shielded Cat5e from the outside equipment up my brick exterior wall through my soffit into a switch that is in my attic crawl space. Before the switch, I was going to insert inline one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Ditek-DTK-WM4NETS/dp/B07NCRR4HB Then run a grounding wire from the above device back outside down my wall and bonded to my grounding rod nearby. I'm mainly trying to protect a lighting surge travelling through the cable into all of my networking equipment. Is this an acceptable approach or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  8. Awesome! Can't believe I couldnt find that! Thanks again.
  9. Hi all, I have a Doorbird front doorbell integrated into my C4 system and see no benefit of having my phone ring by my Control4 app every time someone rings the doorbell. Can someone please advise how to turn off this? I seem to recall previously you downloaded an C4 separate intercom app but now it seems it's all integrated and I cant find a way to toggle off these notifications. ps I do like the C4 integration so my home touchpads get the notification but not my phone. Thanks in advance!
  10. I finally just reset the remote back to factory and reinstalled it. Now it works. Hopefully it remains stable for awhile.
  11. Also doesn't automatically reconnect which is odd. Also, it says status is offline but I can ping its IP address and get a response. Anyone else having this issue or have a suggestion? Thanks!
  12. OP is just creating a bs post to stir the crowd.

    Ruckus Sale!

I have Ruckus Wifi 6 APs and they are blazing fast. I would think only if you have a lot of band interference, Wifi 7 wouldnt give your use case a lot of benefit for the cost.
  14. Thanks! I thought this was just an audio matrix? Is it also an amp?
  15. Hi, I searched but couldnt find an answer... Is the V2 version of this Audio Matrix worth the upgrade and cost diff? Lots of used AMS8 v1 around for under half the price of a new V2 so not sure what was improved with v2?
  16. I was referring to a couple of dimensions, 1) Cloud Access / GUI for those that find this important and 2) the quality and details of the GUI while accessing within the local network. As a contrast, I love Mikrotik gear but their routerOS GUI is much more complicated to navigate for an average user....
  17. This is why I'm a fan of the Unifi controller and user interface, you don't have to be worried about what the dealer has chosen for you to see...
  18. I've been happy with my Chowmain driver and Haikus... I have one Modern Forms but prefer the Haiku.
  19. I have V1 and V2 fans with the Chowmain driver. When I use the Haiku app from time to time it wants to upgrade the firmware of the V1... Will this create any issues with the driver? Thx
  20. Agree, Also an internet based monitoring service has a lot of gaps in a serious security system given how easy it is to cut the internet feed on most homes. I just use cellular at the panel with a batter backup and C4 connectivity just adds a ton of convenience in managing (when the alarm is not going off).
  21. Thanks @Cyknight. It would only have zigbee lighting so my hope was the controller could function reliably unplugged but it sounds like that is not the case. Appreciate the info as always!
  22. Hi all, Wanted to see if I could get confirmation.... Can a simple C4 system with one controller and only control4 zigbee devices (eg lighting), once setup, be run off of the local network (eg ethernet unplugged) if time is set to Legacy in the controller? Thanks in advance!
  23. Thanks, they are going to put their own ISP supplied wifi router after they move in.
