Replacing our awful control4 lighting system
Matt Lowe replied to Marsh's topic in Troubleshooting, Workarounds, & Bugs
What specific issues are you experiencing? Very likely that some the issues will cause future lighting system to have the same result. -
I havent been inside this unit before but i would imagine its not likely a simple swap.
-
can you send a screen shot of what you are looking at?
-
I believe the driver is set up to just use the relay module. but through some programming, you could use the dimmer I'm sure.

you also need to register the controller with the older method and not with ovrc. -
Android: Connect Purchase required to log in

this would be better suited to the dealer discussions. It is not required until April 23rd for new systems and existing systems will be grandfathered for the time being. -
C4-LU1E compatible Baluns in South Africa
Matt Lowe replied to donnyberg's topic in Troubleshooting, Workarounds, & Bugs
most any standard hdbt balun will work. likely ir pass through and the serial will cease to function and you will likely have to power it locally at the display side. -
the favorites are just a toggle. You could create lighting scenes and favorite those.

factory reset and throw it in the trash. last part im mostly kidding

Backlight macros for garage door
Matt Lowe replied to drmark12pa's topic in Troubleshooting, Workarounds, & Bugs
yes likely just the zigbee network being flooded. Just try doing a group of devices delay 5 seconds then another group delay another. keep breaking them up into smaller groups until you get the desired results. unless the zigbee project is absolutely massive 3-4 groups should do well. -
Matrix power switch won't stop flashing.
Matt Lowe replied to DancingCrazy's topic in General Control4 Discussion
this one is external and it should not be too difficult to get a replacement. -
my issue with using one shortcut driver is i prefer one device over another in my setup. If i want to use youtube my shield tv has a better interface. but netflix hdr and atmos only works on my roku, shield is getting a bit long in the tooth. So you would need one for each to properly select the one you want or need to do some programming. The driver will always try to use a device that is not in use or use the device that got the first selection if there are no devices left, or use a device that is using the same service. So in a larger distribution system it may require more.

Backlight macros for garage door
Matt Lowe replied to drmark12pa's topic in Troubleshooting, Workarounds, & Bugs
depends on how many devices you are sending this command to. i would suggest starting with a small group of devices and then seconds later blast the other groups. i have about 30 devices and occasionally some of my devices miss the command and don't switch. could also just choose one or two devices in each room to change the backlight on. -
do you have no wiif in that you cant even connect to the wifi at all? Can connect but have no internet? Can't connect even though it shows. We will need more details to know where the failure is. Likely an issue with the router and ISP crap gateway if you have one.

you either need one Alexa for each zone, or you need to use complex voice commands to route the audio with voice control only. You could use the c4 app or an interface to activate a room for the audio input. Josh ai is the only voice control with intuitive voice control over audio for multiple rooms. (conspiracy theory warning) The other voice control solutions in the market want you to only use their interface or apps so that they can track and use your data for their benefit and advertising.

Backlight macros for garage door

deff needs to break up the commands with some delays. But the led wizard would be much better for this and is what i switched my programming to when the driver was released. -
Halo and DTV IP loss of control issues
Matt Lowe replied to cybuch's topic in General Control4 Discussion
deff sounds like an issue with the dtv box or the network. The halo remote would not be directly communicating to the dtv box so it would not care. -
do you want automation and control over that load? if the answer is yes then the answer to your questions is no. If a less expensive switch is available to do the same job as Lutron caseta, you could use those and still automate it, but then you are splitting your ecosystems. the price is reasonable and low enough that replacing one makes a lot of sense. if you had to do a bunch then it make more sense. Control4 lighting is also really reliable so I would be concerned more about why it failed.

C4 EA5 controller upgrade to Core 5
Matt Lowe replied to MigSta's topic in General Control4 Discussion
Control4 also made 2.9.1 there last os update. I can't predict the future but should be no reason to remove the iox from control4. -
control 4 and change of router in bridge mode
Matt Lowe replied to richardvdp's topic in Troubleshooting, Workarounds, & Bugs
just depends on how everything in the network is configured. You should only have one router in your home network. I would dump the ISP combo and get a modem and router separately. If you don't change anything other than turning off the wifi on the ISP and setting up a new wifi everything should work. If stuff is not working afterwards we would need to know a lot more details or someone will have to log into the project and find out what the issue is. This should be something by a remote dealer connection as well and should not need an on-site visit. It is possible it could be so borked on-site that may be the only way to fix it though. DM if you want me to take a look. -
the proper solution for a non-dimable load would be to use a switch. Depending on the type of load that you have connected to the dimmer it could be pulling too much current and actually damaging the dimmer. If it is going into a short circuit like this it is not going to work and will kill the dimmer.

1) lots of options to do this in programming. 2) can do it in Composer but more intuitively you can do it in the control4 app with the correct os versions. 3) depends if the security system is fully integrated and the proper drivers are there but you should be able to program based on the sensors themselves. Can also check out our composer home training course as we go over all of these topics in good detail. Can't quite recall if we have a specific video on the eq but i know that we have touched base on it in our videos. might be our next video idea now that i think of it. https://www.patreon.com/waltstv
