  1. Hi All, is anyone using Alexa as a source for their whole house audio ? Basically, since I am all setup with alexa devices, I would like to have one alexa speaker output connected to my control4 8 ZONE AMP and be able to simply ask it to play music and through programming have it turn on the audio zones. I have a few ideas in mind but I dont want it to require memorizing many vocal commands. If anyone has done something similar and would like to share ... That would be appreciated. Thanks all.

  2. @cyknight
I finally got around and switch to Helix.
works fine with the IR driver as you said.
However, i figured i would try the IP driver as it’s more robust. Issue i have is i cant add it to my project. When adding to room it just pops an error saying cannot add driver.
Do you think its because the driver is dated from 2023 and im on 3.3.0 ? (Still running off a hc-800)

Also, how can i change the icon displayed in the ios app ? It shows the xfinity icon but id like to customize it to the helix logo.

    Thanks as always.

  3. Hi,

Anyone here from the Montreal, quebec area ?

My cable company (Videotron) is moving to ip tv based boxes. I have an old IR cable box right now integrated easily into c4 with an infrared driver.

Wondering if someone here has Helix and if it can be controlled in c4 ? Their customer service can’t help with this. Thanks

  4. Thank for the reply. Are the Dahua cameras only sold through a dealer ?

I was thinking of Amcrest cameras, I recall someone recommending them a while ago and they are pretty afordable.

Although I believe BlueIris does seem good from what I read everywhere.

@msgreenf I believe you had recommended Amcrest. What are your thoughts on Amcrest NVR + Cameras  VS BlueIris with other cameras ?

    Thanks

  5. Hi all,

I am currently running an old Wirepath 9 channel DVR to monitor my CCTV cameras. (all Bullet style CCTV cameras)

I am now in need of better resolution and also would like to have 1 or 2 wireless cameras in there as well.

I am wondering what you would suggest. I want good resolution (4K), possible to record to NVR or DVR in case I need to go back and look at events. I want them to be viewable in the c4 interface (ipad / iphone).

I like in Canada so I will need cameras that support the cold weather. Also, if I mix wired with wireless...Will this work on the NVR ?

I am looking into amcrest but I know there are so many companies that it gets hard to choose.

Any updated 2021-2022 advice would be great as these things evolve quickly.

    Thank you

  6. Hi all,

I suspect my current hdmi matrix is starting to fail.

I have a good old monoprice 4x4 with serial control.

I know it is not high end but its been rock solid for 12 years.

They dont seem to sell that model anymore.

Anyone got recommendations for a similar product that doesn’t cost a fortune?

    4x4 or 4x6

    Dont need 4k but could

    Be a plus.

    Thanks

  7. I have a PTZ camera (not wirepath) that I can fully control using Control4. You just tap on the side of the image you want it to pan towards and it pans.  I’m pretty sure there’s a PTZ driver for wirepath. Sounds like you just need the right driver (or need to tap the side of the screen).

Thats what im thinking as well but cant seem to get it done.
My PTZ (pelco brand) is behind the wirepath dvr so it doesnt have its own ip. Not sure if it matters or i just push the ip of the dvr in the driver like i do with my normal bullet cameras.

If anyone has accomplished this let me know.
