You may be able to find a plate amp to replace it but for the price and effort you are better off buying a new sub unless you just want a science fair project to hunt down something that is the right dimensions.

sonic30101 reacted to Hizzle in Vera, Ezlo Z-Wave and Control4 Extra Vegetables Driver Update Needed
Hey, There are many of you on here who have been using Vera with the Extra Vegetables driver to control your z-wave devices.  I have about 80 z-wave switches in my house and it works well enough but is somewhat slow.  They state that there are some speed improvements in the Ezlo platform.  I just purchased an Ezlo to upgrade the speed of the interface and found out that they no longer support the API that Vera used.  So, this means that the Extra Vegetables driver will not work with Ezlo.  Since they have stopped making Vera, it's concerning to me that if my Vera hardware dies, I'm SOL.  (I just purchased another Vera as a backup but it's almost impossible to find one, even on Ebay.)
Since Extra Vegetables was purchased by Control4 back in 2014, can we get one of the team familiar with the driver to update it to work with the new Ezlo API?  I'm sure I'm not the only one who is making this request due to the scarcity of Vera HW.  I'd even be happy to put some $$s behind the update.  It's got to be less expensive, and less of a hassle, than replacing $4k worth of z-wave gear.
Any update from Control4 or even Chowmain would be most appreciated.  If @Chowmain @alanchowwants to develop the updated driver, I'd be happy with that as well.  He does some great work.

I agree, the eq is something we used to have through the old app store on os2 so I'm glad they brought it back. The other statement of being 10 years behind I'm not so sure of. What is your automation system of choice that is a better platform? Just curious. C4 has its faults and is definitely not for everyone. Automation isn't for everyone. There are a ton of people who were sold systems with no heads up on how much ongoing maintenance costs, and their systems may have been poorly designed and installed as well but that isn't isolated to C4.
Urc- not even close, no contest. App doesn't look good.
Savant- good system, great app, limited sandbox. Driver based so no full ui customization either when compared to c4. 3rd party profiles lacking.
Crestron home- limited sandbox, app is ok, too new to the block.
Crestron simpl- very capable, more expensive to implement and maintain. No way it meets your criteria.
RTI- lacking in scalability, good customizability, decent product library but more time consuming to implement and maintain compared to c4. Not a fan of handhelds. App is ok.
Logitech and logitech pro- meh and rip
Pro control- marginally better than logitech but only just. Very limited
Diy route- what handhelds would you use? What are your top 3 choices for platforms?
    Vera?
    Smart things?
    Brilliant?
    Fibaro?

A roku ultra is $100, cheaper than the Apple TV which you only said is an issue because it doesnt support mini apps.  So you can fix your problem and probably ditch the Fire TV Cube too.  I’ve went through Fire TVs, Shields and Roku.  Roku is by far the best for C4 and even without C4 involved.  My brother in law needed a streaming device for a cheap TV he just got at his shore house and without hesitation I told him to buy a Roku.
I’ve never used ARC, but lots of TVs have a digital audio output.  why not run that output to the AVR?  I have a Smart Sony TV that has a digital audio output and I run that digital cable into my 12 year old Denon AVR for the 1-2 mini apps I use off the sony TV vs using sources in my matrix.

do you have cat run from the rack to the tv? if so you can do a dac back to the c4 matrix, this way anything playing from the tv will play through the c4 amp, if not then hdmi stripper for each source to the c4 matrix would be the way to go

You need to add more rokus to your distributed video system so they don't interfere with simultaneous sessions since there is only 1 roku currently to share

Yep, my colleague did this with 3 recently visited clients. The had to go back to remove it again.

With the AppleTV driver, it's doable if the user is pretty hands on, but even then it's more annoying than what the driver brings to the table - the only advantage is ever so slightly snappier control, which most won't even notice. Until there's direct app selection, I'll continue to use IR control and recommend it.

It has an HC800 and an HC250. I'm not sure what generation, but probably the older ones. I didn't know/forgot that those need licenses. Thanks for reminding me!

Connect the HDMI directly to the TV.  Split the optical from the TV, one to the soundbar and the other to a bluetooth transmitter.

I think there is validity in your statement as long as you never intend on switching away from control4. Plus if you go with something like lutron and integrate to c4 the client pays for twice the programing. The upside is if you choose lutron lighting and zektor audio matrix you have the ability to rip c4 out and switch automation platforms where if you go native for everything you are most likely locked in forever since the cost of switching is prohibitive. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer really but just wanted to play devil's advocate on the advantage side.

If your c4 processor goes down your lighting would still operate and the integration is solid. I like both systems in the end.

Or this is an end user trying to learn, because there are a large number of dealers who thing they know what they're talking about.
I applaud him! When I went through this all the years ago, not one dealer had a straight answer, so I learned in order to find my best dealer and work with him for what I thought was best.

You could also add a room control driver and trigger off when you enter watch mode instead of source selection so if you make a change mid session then select another source it is ignored

Is there a separate 2.4 wifi network on the araknis access points? HP are very finicky. I usually have to log into the access point and put them in wps mode and walk through the printers wizard to get them to play nice when the normal procedures are giving grief

sonic30101 reacted to Topfox in Bond Bridge Shout Out
    Scenario:
Have 9 ceiling fans with lights, and they all have remotes. Some are original manufacturer, some are generic on/off universal. All the them only have a single light switch, so from the switch you don’t have control over the fan vs the light. I had thought there really wasn’t anything I could do to integrate these into my system other than overall on/off by swapping the light switch, then having to use the remote to control if I wanted the fan and light on, etc.
    Forum to the rescue:
I browse the forum pretty often for new ideas. Saw an older thread talking about Bond, and figured I’d give the Bond Bridge a shot although I was worried the advertised 2.5k sq ft of coverage wouldn’t be enough for my home size. Got the Bridge last week for less than $100, got the Chowmain driver and now they are all integrated into my system and working perfectly!

Definitely wanted to advertise the success of the 2 items in combination in a large home. Time will tell if I have any connection issues or anything like that in the future, but as of right now I’m super excited these are now integrated.
