  1. Do I need a lift - no. Hiding the projector (and all my other tech) = happy wife. In this location, I can't put it in the wall as it is an external wall and I'd mess up the architectural flow of the room if I built out the back wall to inset it. I definitely like the idea of the that kind of mount spot though. One of my other rooms basically has it mounted like that, but it is also hidden ... used linear actuator on that install (below). I haven't finalized the projector yet, but thinking of going with Sony VPL-VW325ES.
  2. I think I found what I need in the Draper AeroLift 35. If anybody has any better suggestions - please let me know. Thanks.
  3. I'm working on a home theater project and the wife definitely wants the projector to be up and out of the way when not in use. The issue is the ceiling joists are fairly narrow. I'm looking for a good quality projector lift that can fit in a 20.25" width. The length can be longer. All the lifts I can find seem to be minimum width of 24". Thanks!
  4. Thanks for all the feedback. Still have some time to finalize my choice, but the input is extremely helpful!
  5. Eggzlot & lippavisual – thanks for the input on the cameras. BraydonH – thanks for the details on UniFi. Seems like the handful of people that I have talked to that are actually running Unifi really like them. The only negative I’ve heard is that some folks have had some stability issues with the amount of updates they are pushing out (mostly enhancements and new features vs. fixes from what I can gather). Sounded like one guy turned off auto updates and just manually applied them on a less frequent basis and it resolved his stability problem. Have you had any stability issues with their updates?
  6. Thanks for the input. Spent some time on their site ... will need to spend more time, but looks like a solid product. Would definitely be a replacement for my Luma NVR at some point. In a brand new build, what cameras would recommend to pair with Surveillance Station?
  7. I currently have a Luma system on my primary home integrated with C4. After using it for +2 years, I never really interact with it via C4. All my access ends up being through Luma's dated app and old IE interface. System has been bullet proof as far as staying up, but the lack of features and UI are extremely annoying ... and I don't see ANY investment in the platform. Ironically, I've been running a couple Nest cameras on a condo I have. Besides the lack of a POE option and local storage, the features and UI are the best I've experienced. I'm in the process of building a second home and I'm trying to decide on the best camera system given my requirements: Smart motion alerts (person noticed) via text/pop-up Automatically turning off select cameras when me or family members are on the property Easily remote view events and download screen captures/video (I know "easy" is subjective, but I don't mark Luma as meeting this requirement if that helps) Although I'll be putting C4 in at the new home, C4 integration isn't a top requirement. I've done some research on UniFi and Blue Iris too, just not as familiar with them. I hate to say it, but I'm leaning towards Nest given it meets my top 3 requirements, just bothers me a little putting in 9 cameras all running over Wi-Fi (annual subscription not really an issue for me). Am I over thinking this or any other issues with Nest? Appreciate any input and recommendations.
