evil0ne got a reaction from wnpublic in New Halo and Halo Touch Remotes
Same. I was pretty surprised that it needed to be docked at all times. My old non rechargeable SR260 lasts months before it needs new batteries and I was naively thinking this new remote would be similar and only need to be charged weekly. You know, similar to those old Harmony’s. 😉

Can Snap just acquire and revive Harmony… that would solve lots of things.

Dawn helped me out with Top Down Bottom Up PowerView blinds and they are pretty darn quiet, especially compared to my Bali roller shades downstairs.

evil0ne reacted to net_tech in C4 cloud cover driver
Version 105 is out.
Resolved logic problems and added retrieval time to the driver to show when weather info was obtained.
In our tests we found that a 10 sec delay is enough to allow the driver to update the fields.

It would be helpful for posters who have “major problems since day 1” to post pics of the fronts and backs of their racks
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words

Any of the dealers that have replied above are more than competent and significantly cheaper than your local dealer I would expect. There is a section in the forums dedicated to this as well:

Same. My transformer had an Intermatic timer in it. Pulled it out and installed the Kasa and presto no more resets from DST or power outages.

I just use a KASA outlet plug for ~$10... Works perfect and complete control from their app or you can buy the C4 driver...

evil0ne got a reaction from wnpublic in HTTP Fireplace commands
I did some more digging and it communicates via WebSockets. I did a wireshark on the communication between my laptop and the fireplace's webpage and it seems to be very simple commands. That said, would the Chowmain Generic IP driver be able to accomplish the task of sending the on/off commands?

evil0ne reacted to Hizzle in Patio heater Integration
I just did the same thing with our home. We installed 2 of the 6000W heaters. It has to be wired with 240v and each one of the elements needs it's own heavy duty switch. This is what I used.
Aeotec Heavy Duty Smart Switch, Z-Wave Plus controller, 40 amps
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MBIRF5W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Again, you'll need one per element, or two per fixture (depending on the size you purchased). These are easily controlled by my Vera z-wave controller and then assigned as a relay to the Heater Driver in Control4. This way it doesn't look like a "light bulb" and gets put into the Comfort Menu.

Unfortunately, Alexa can't control shades via Control4. The only way to make Alexa control shades is to use a different Alexa-compatible integration method. It might be possible for you to add the Vera skill to Alex and then control the shades using that skill. I'm not sure of the details, because I don't use Vera. However, I do something similar with my Somfy shades. They are integrated with Control4, but I also have separate Somfy wifi modules that integrate with Alexa for voice control. In your case, voice commands would -- in theory -- be issued by Alexa to Vera directly.

evil0ne reacted to Cyknight in OS 3.2 Out today! with new products!
Wifi, you screw the bracket to the wall, push the wire through, mount device.
PoE, you make a big hole in the wall, mount the bracket overtop and squash the network connection through. Then mount device to bracket.
There installation instructions done

My somfy shades are connected to smartthings which allows voice control through alexa. I then use a vera as a secondary zwave hub to copy all my smartthings devices and integrate into control4. For what its worth I don't think vera is a very good hub/solution at all... The only reason I have it is its the only one that works with control4

Legrand is also part of this group. They'll be releasing some Zigbee devices in the US soon..... Supposedly US product line manager is sending me samples. Haven't talked to them in a couple of months but hopefully I'll see them show up soon.

evil0ne reacted to bnet in Pentair Intelliconnect?
my current pentair integration is probably the weakest and least reliable component in my setup. part of the issue is the c4 pentair driver (functionality and including an issue or two i have with the c4 pool proxy) and part the pentair iLink.
this is what you do, or more specifically, what i'm doing: i wrote a pool proxy driver "bPentair" (not released) with the ability to directly read/write to the Pentair serial bus. disclaimer is that i have an intellitouch, not an intelliconect, but the intelliconect uses the same serial connection to talk to other pentair equipment. by going direct, you can bypass MQTT (your entire network really) and not get caught by a change in pentair's MQTT interface and not require a separate box as noted above. of course, you will need a serial connection between your c4 controller and pentiar but everyone added that during construction, right! also would need a $10 rs485<->rs232 protocol adapter and because i'm running this on my development ea1, i needed a $15 3.5mm to rs232 adapter.
also, as noted above, a direct connection gives you access to everything on the bus - iChem, iChlor, detail pump info, etc. you can not get this info from iLink ($200) but can via pentair's screenlogic2 ($500+). but even then i'm not sure you can get the info into/do anything about it in C4. as an example, the screenshot is real/live data.
perhaps when bPentair get a little further along, i can look at the differences between intellitouch and intellicenter and intelliconect.

evil0ne reacted to azkid in Pentair Intelliconnect?
I have screenlogic and do the same thing as you, use a rs232 usb adapter hooked up to the wireless screenlogic adapter inside my house. I am able to pull all the information using a js.node program that was developed for smartthings. Here is the link to the smartthings topic smartthings pentair. There is links in that topic to the github as well as the smartthings driver (app). This method allows me to change things as well including turning on various pumps, lights, etc. Given that this works for smartthings I'd imagine it would work for control4 in the very way you are showing above. I hope you have plans to make the control4 driver available or someone else steps up to do this. I have no idea how to make control4 drivers but if anyone needs any sort of assistance in terms of beta testing or anything like that to make screenlogic work I'd be happy to help.

evil0ne reacted to msgreenf in PSA: Apple TV tvOS 13 killed my remote programming
oh no way, Roku is the way to go. Honestly, buy a roku pro and I will set it for free for you. Buy a Roku Ultra 4k, put it in your rack and wire it up and configure it and message me. I would love to get you going with Roku. Your dealer is wrong that Apple TV is better.
