That's a good suggestion. I run cable and ATT, but the LTE suggestion is solid. You can do this really cheap these days or it really is a lot less expensive than in the past.

Nice. I actually buy twice as many spoons as all other utensils for this reason. Once a year I also polish all the bite marks off and put them back in rotation.
I have those super quiet disposals that can disappear a whole chicken. We've tried the SilverSaver Sink Stopper's and they work pretty good.

I think I'd make it clear to wire the junction box for the fan "normally". Meaning run two circuits from the wall location. An electrician would do this out of habbit/code anyway so don't ask them to do it any different.
For sure if you wire hot you want the controller to work. If it doesn't it also would not work when you toggle the power using a switch. If you need to toggle power when you wire the box hot you can always flip the breaker.
As noted these controllers use a remote and can be controlled using wifi. When your wifi goes down they actually fall back to AP mode so you can still access them.

You can also wire these controllers remotely to the fan. They don't actually have to be mounted above the fan. In the case of an outdoor fan you could mount them inside or in another enclosure.
Yes, outdoors you want the breeze for sure. Big blades and dropped from the ceiling. I have some cheap hunter outdoor fans that move a lot of air. I like them because their blades haven't drooped in the humidity even after years. I hate to admit it, but I think I leave them on 24/7. Keeps the bugs away.

No fan modification. Just replace the current controller or add this one. I have these and they are cool, but there are some minor annoying aspects that you may or may not find annoying. The wifi flipper/dongle/paddle/eyesore needs to be placed outside of the fan housing where the fan meets the ceiling. Don't use the instructions in the silly video. They show sticking it to the ceiling way outside of the fan housing for the junction box. I mean you can do that, but that sure looks terrible. The dongle is meant to snuggle up under the edge of the housing with only half of it sticking out. They include a couple of thick spacer bushings you are meant to install between the junction box/ceiling and the fan craddle to make space for the dongle between the ceiling and the trim of the fan. So the annoying part of this design is that there will be some form of a gap between the ceiling and the fan trim ring. You can get creative and modify your fan trim and not use the bushings etc OR you can play with wifi without the flipper exposed.
If you do not use the hub with the fan controller you are using the cloud to control the fan with the app or you are using the remote. I believe the cloud and app don't really have a restriction on number of devices.
The app isn't terrible, but it's not the greatest. They could improve on the widgets.
I do not think you can connect a controller to more than one fan.

I think they are worth the $60 bucks and 5 minutes it takes to install. You also get some opportunities to control them using API's.

For 199 per screen if you use unifi protect you can add one of these for camera views.

In a desperate situation where something like escrow would even come up and where a community was impacted the source would likely appear. I'm just stating the obvious. I'm not trying to debate or suggest C4 or any dealer has any responsibility. I'm also not debating any legal aspect of this. Its a technical comment. Code escrow is the wrong tool for this situation. It would cost more to implement than any revenue could reasonably cover.

Get new strips.  12V are the most common and are quite cheap - about $15-25 per 5m roll on Amazon or specialty LED online retailers.
How long is your run?  If it is longer than one roll then you may want to use an amplifier, or get additional controllers and you can set these up as different zones.  You might be able to use one power supply to drive multiple controllers, but you will need to run wires from the power supply to all controllers.
I haven't used the Shelly controller, but it looks pretty good.  There are also cheap Wifi controllers that can be integrated into C4 that use an app called Magic Home or FluxLED.

Most all conference systems have a computer in the architecture whether people are touching it or interacting with it in the room. The computer is running the show and the conference system is driving the computer. Even the new Poly systems that say "no computer needed" are simply a built in computer running the Poly OS which is just a cobbled together linux system. It doesn't require a computer because it brought its own... and a price tag to reflect it.
You're in luck in that most computers that run conferencing software can also run Netflix and Amazon so you can think about it in reverse.
The computers aren't overkill. They are needed for the brains. You just in many cases don't need to interact with them like your typical computer. The newer systems are really great because you can set them up to join a meeting without even touching them. They can be connected to Teams and when you walk into the room at the time of the meeting they simply connect and start the meeting. In many cases you never see or know there is a "computer" anywhere. The console tablet and breakout has the HDMI etc needed to connect the laptop you brought to do your presentation etc.
I think most people want a $30 streaming stick that displays 4k for shows. Personally, I think there might be room in the consumer market after having the Pandemic for a $500 family room video conferencing solution that is also a streamer. I've worked on some in the past ... and they never made it to market. We just need to find a million other people that want what we want

That meetup system is mac, windows and I was surprised to see... chromebook compatible. I'm personally liking the Poly x30, but its expensive.

I picked this site at random after googling meanwell and 5v. Looks like some good info and they list the various products. You might find it useful to find the product you want on a site you want to use.

They used to make cameras for smart tv's like the Samsung VG-STC4000.
Part of the issue is that a camera on a TV in the room isn't always the best picture and with a wide angle camera and people back 10-12 feet on average the faces were small and the back lighting detracted. That's where the Kinect has some advantage. It zooms to the human in the room. Some of the conference cameras also do this with hardware. When you do this with software with a 1080p image the processing required isn't trivial.
I'm with you though. I'd like better consumer video gear that makes a fun and interesting experience with the TV as the main display.

I'm not sure why you have a problem. You wanted participation. You posted the same in the Reddit r/C4diy group which is exactly for people that crack their systems. You can't have it both ways. I'm not judging you. I simply tried to help the person. I'm sorry if I assumed your group would help them. You might want to work on your marketing approach language if you are going to discriminate against the people you market to.
Maybe you can simply help the person?

The "attractive, user-friendly splash screen" is a great suggestion. The existing splash screen is pure confusion for end users. It makes it look like the device has been hacked by ad-ware. It should look like specialized control software the user paid to have installed by a smart home professional.
