  1. My dealer created 9 Spotify connect sessions (one per room) but we frequently have dropoffs (like in 2-3 seconds) after playing in one of our rooms. But it's C4 entry is virtually identical to the other 8 (just the rooms are different). So for example, we get into Spotify Connect app (which I hate, btw, but here we are) and have music ready to play but hit the little phone/PC connect to source and we find "Master Suite" along with our other 8. I hear the music play for 2-3 seconds then the audio ends in the room and plays on my phone. To be sure, we are not shutting off the room if Spotify session disconnects in 5 seconds. That is a 'no' on all 9 sessions.
  2. Disagree about DLNA. For USB I have a 2TB FAT32 with Lossy and Lossless music - currently copying music from NAS to it to plug into C4. For DLNA - my options are (mostly due to having TrueNAS): 1. Plex DLNA - Good, but no "search" capability exists. You cannot search for an artist, song, or album at all. 2. MiniDLNA - Terrible, as I tried this and with others in TrueNAS forums, it's rife with memory issues. It constantly crashes and has to be restarted. It's also end of life, so no support. 3. Emby - Redundant with Plex as they are same purpose. DLNA "might" be better there, but won't beat a USB thumb drive.
  3. Weirdly my connection from Control4 to TrueNAS (as it's now known) is behaving badly. I checked TrueNAS: 1) SMB service has checked allow SMB1 2) Sharing for Audio folder on NAS has IP of C4 enabled and is guest, guest only as aux params 3) In C4, Network File Storage under Monitoring / Properties of it has location with ... to select. I can see my share, select my Audio folder. 4) On TrueNAS all Audio is owned by Guest/Guest and was given recursively to match SMB sharing of it as guest, guest only 5) Even tried to make Control4/Control4 owner of Audio and use Control and password for the connection. 4) and 5) result in no connection "offline". So I cannot get to my audio in C4 and all DLNA options are horrible (either no search, or constant app dropping). Ironically I can connect to my NAS audio from any PC/Mac that has it's IP as permissioned in the SMB sharing. So that's why C4 can see it and select it. Somehow it just cannot connect to it.
  4. I have 10 Spotify driver instances for 10 rooms. I open Spotify Connect (again, worst model of integration ever, but oh well), to play something on my phone, touch the weird phone/PC icon to get my list of 10 rooms, and if I pick any of 9 of the 10 it plays for 5 seconds then ends. I have a master bath - that sounds amazing given marble surfaces reflect audio nicely - but that's all that will persist music. We have Spotify Family plan, drivers are up to date, and we disabled the 5 second power off rooms if we close Spotify app. Dealer is again on vacation (travels like every single weekend to be with family) so hard to troubleshoot this on my own. Family getting upset.
  5. Well my dealer came over and did it. Now facing odd issues with some of these: 1. Open Spotify Connect on Phone and pick music and hit little white icon for destination to send it 2. We see 9 locations: Kitchen, my office, etc as we named them those 3. For kitchen and my office, it will play out there for 5 seconds then stop. In Spotify connect it just shows music is paused and the icon goes green to white again. 4. For other rooms the music persists so we just add kitchen or my office then x out of the room we first wanted (using C4, not Spotify)
  6. How does one add multiple Spotify drivers? Oh wait, obviously another pricey call to Dealer.
  7. Anyone been able to setup multiple Spotify names to to allow for specific room playback? I saw a PDF from C4 saying you can add one or up to 10 locations "e.g., Kitchen Spotify", so when you use Spotify Connect you're presented with a choice where to stream. Otherwise I'm stuck with a default room selector in C4 Composer HE but if I want to shower and play Spotify in the bathroom I'd like to be able to just request Bathroom rather than jump from app to app turning on and shutting off rooms.
  8. I tried doing this: change the NETBIOS name of your NAS to it's IP address. Then, it worked for me.
  9. I did a hard reboot of the Controller and when it came back up, Spotify Connect works. I just really am not a fan of their architecture. Now I just wish the Hunter Douglas shades could get working...
  10. Cannot get C4 to work with shades since HD dealer replaced all of my shades. 11. Not a fan of Spotify Connect at all. Wish is was more like user/password and then go to C4 app and just pick music like Pandora, Amazon Music, etc. Anyway, we have family plan and In C4 Home Edition gave Spotify Connect Name "C4 Spotify" with Auto room(s) selected. When I open Spotify on my phone I can pick music, then pick C4 Spotify. Then it plays for about 2-3 seconds and stops.
  12. I didn't think he was serving from Windows, rather can connect FROM windows but not from C4. My Network File Share stopped working; it was perfectly working as of about a week ago, and no updates have pushed. If I try to "Connect" from C4 I get "unable to connect to the network share" I'm not sure where to begin but checked that NFS, SMB are on and my C4 IP is permissioned as it was.
  13. Which is ironic as there isn't an Apple thing at all.
  14. I would assign a custom button to each room you want the microphone to play out in those ceiling speakers. Button does: 1. Turn on room audio at present volume 2. Assign constant audio matrix input (to microphone's input) 3. Assign that room's audio matrix output Once that is done if you have an amp it's downstream from the matrix so you might not need a pre-amp for the mic. But don't be in the room you want to microphone with. You'll pick up your voice from the speakers into the microphone and cause a loop: no bueno. #1 rule in music is never point microphone at speakers
  15. <rant> 3.2.1 update! Lovely... all music stored on NFS is gone so I have to scan my entire music library (again) and rebuild all playlists from scratch. To make matters worse, C4 still refuses to make an Apple version of Composer HE, I guess they don't think their ownership base uses Apple much. Now have to dig out some old Windows laptop to do this (or anything related to C4). </rant>
  16. Why do you need it in Composer? My situation is a rooftop projector whereby we wanted audio to hit the outdoor speakers there (already the speakers are C4 enabled). So instead of a projector to hold the content we're doing an ethernet run to the roof from C4, to terminate as HDMI without sound to the projector which just needs power on and focusing and input control. At the C4 main controller the other end is terminated in HDMI as well so it comes from a splitter which has the audio hitting the outdoor speakers's amp inputs. The splitter comes from HDMI from an Apple TV we control with C4. I hope your LG has HDMI input which it should and then do some C4 speakers wherever you place it.
  17. In your Composer HE, try looking at Monitoring mode, then scroll to wherever you find all of your stuff like EA-5, My Music, Spotify Connect and Amazon Music should be there. In Properties tab you have Driver Version, Debug Mode, Progress Bar Updates, Authentication URL, and Account. In Actions, you can generate a link for the authentication.
  18. Well I found out it wasn't C4. It was in my NAS and I'm using MusicBrainz Picard to get back 95% of the correct Artist, Album Artist, and Album to the songs affected apparently from my wife fiddling with the music. I don't like DLNA because on my NAS (freeNAS), only Plex's DLNA is stable, but there's no search mechanism within. I've tried miniDLNA and others and none are stable products, either quitting or unable to handle 17k songs.
  19. Noticed after a restart of my controller (no music was playing and scanning was not occuring so the usual fix - reboot controller)... 1. 6500 songs were restriped with a single album and single artist when only 23 of them were attributable to that. 2. I tried deleting mm.db and that did nothing. 3. I tried deleting all songs through Composer Home Edition and it keeps leaving about 3.4k of them after selecting all and delete finishes. Tried multiple times 4. I had thought there'd be a clean way to go into mm.db (I offlined that to PC) and update album_song table to set the album_id right by linking to song_docs but it doesn't take. SQL is right, but runs and keeps album_song table as it was...and way too many records to fix for manual job. So - is there a cleaner way to just delete the music and reboot the controller and re-scan? I think I have to give up the playlists and pandora file, but that's less painful than just having this mess. Thoughts?
  20. Chiming in (no pun intended) 2.5 years later we have Bluetooth 5.0 transmitters and receivers. Use cases: portable bluetooth speakers, bluetooth headphones, playing music from C4 on my phone, etc. I'm thinking of one of those TaoTronics BT 5.0 transmit/receive models that has Ethernet, Optical in, and 3.5mm inputs. * Suspect that it needs to be plugged into EA-5 or audio matrix optical out and then gives bluetooth range from there * Would be wonderful if it could connect from ethernet port in another room but I'm dubious about the networking (e.g., it would get an IP but no way to push music to it) * Then again I have a roof deck above my C4 rack that would be in range with wireless speakers configured depending on how we use the deck (dinners, lounging)
  21. Thanks! I did a hard reboot after making sure no music was "playing" anywhere. I say that because it can indicate it is but you don't hear it so good practice to check. What I learned is this: 1. if you reboot while music is playing, you may corrupt/lock the digital music driver 2. If you're music is not being scanned and you can find a corrupted mm.db on your C4 director file explorer location, you should reboot. I did and music resumed scanning.
  22. I was told to Reboot the Director if Music scanning is doing nothing. In plain English - is Director the C4 Controller appliance?
  23. Dealer came over and noted there was some bug in a recent release affecting the audio matrix. We turned off allmusic and rebooted C4 and audio matrix. 1. In Composer HE and C4 app I have no music in "My Music" 2. Composer HE is scanning and shows about 50% done but I see no music in HE's audio section where usually there's all my music 3. A "corrupted" mm.db is present in C4's network directory. It's password locked, however. The new mm.db is 8 MB and readable, but again won't produce a list of audio. I'm very upset by this as I rely on my music vs streaming in many scenarios including wakeup and bedtime.
  24. Thanks. Seems all is fine in C4 land, but my issues persist. Now, C4 is semi-non-responsive. I can load it (3.13) in Composer HE, but every 30 seconds I get a modal window informing me that "Director is not responding to commands. Would you like to keep waiting for a response?" My understanding is I should not reboot C4 while any music is playing or orchestration is playing out as it may lock a driver.
  25. Not muted. Checked Pandora (multiple stations) , Tunein stations, My Music playlists. Zero is heard. Any possible outage going on as I wait for my dealer to respond?
