  1. Thanks -- still in transition so have been off the net but the quick assistance was appreciated. Not looking forward to rebuilding a full C4 system in a year with the new build, but maybe will just start with the hardwire points around the house and go from there
  2. Thanks--though I am still unsure what I should do with my control4.com account--unregister the controller and my devices? And if I do that, what info do they need from me?
  3. Hello, Have sold home and am including the C4 components in the sale. Includes EA5, EA1, Remote, touch panel, Alarm, Shades, 2 channels audio with TRIADs, NVR and cams, Lights, garage doors, HVAC. Also giving them the router and modem with the passwords. - What do I need to do on my end? I no longer have 4 Sight subscription as it just ran out - Can I just log out of things like music services from the touch panel, or will they be able to resurrect it by loading an old build? - Do I unregister my controller and then they create their own account on control4.com? - Can I transfer my Composer Home license key? I want to leave them as functional a system as possible--it has been great and would be silly to remove--but I am not sure how to do it securely and correctly. I have also recommended to them to use this forum to look for an integrator--best option. I have a great one I've used, but I don't want to keep asking him questions "off the clock"--he is like most in this community--a c4 enthusiast and professional who is very generous with his time. Cheers--we are building a new custom home and the wife actually said C4 would be great in the new house. Seemed like a lot of money at the time but holy cow--100% uptime for over 3 years. Never even a hiccup. More dependable than everything else electronic or mechanical that I own Frank
  4. OBTW--I think part of the problem from a consumer perspective is C4 makes extremely reliable and expensive high grade components that are probably more for commercial application anyway...but that far outlive product refresh cycles...and so the revenue model is very unbalanced on the front end. Make products that are a bit more consumer grade, lower price, less "hardened", that are compatible, and give people the option. Then dealers would have a lot more business potentially. Anyway that's all Ill say about that.
  5. By the way--the network reset eventually brought my remote iOS access back up. And then the dealer doubled back aggressively to try and assist today after I said I was done...and they called C4 who said--make sure Composer is patched...well apparently it wasn't. Patched...and now works just fine. Not sure why that was such a difficult path that took a month, but all is well that ends well. Thanks to everyone here as always. The boards are a lifesaver.
  6. Dumb question though--when doing network reset, you stop pressing the id button the first time the power and data lights turn simultaneously blue right?
  7. Well I network reset the EA5 (ID button, power cycle etc)...reinstalled the iOS app on my phone...the app opens and works only on wifi. No remote access. Not sure why it crashed before but who knows. My local (sales) dealer actually responded to an email i sent a short time ago. He isn't the techie though, so will have to wait til tomorrow. but at least he responded.
  8. Probably. Now the app won't open at all. Prob locked out
  9. OK--and I just noted my mobile connections will not work off wifi--so 4Sight is not working. My license is active until 2021
  10. I did get a good samaritan PM on a way to possibly overcome this. But I really would like to know how I can submit feedback on my local dealer? Does C4 care about sustaining competence and service, or is it only about hardware volume? Here is the email (sanitized of names)--does this sound right? Frank, Sorry to hear you can't access your system. When I did the upgrade it should not have changed anything about your access either locally or remotely. To retrieve your password just log in to your customer account on the c4 website and from there you can reset your password. Sorry for the inconvinience.
  11. Thanks, I tried that. No luck. After a few weeks...Local Dealer says they didn't do anything. And then he told me "Sorry you can't access your system. Reset your password at control4.com" WTF kind of advice is that? I can access my C4 user web account just fine. And I tried the password. Doesn't work. This is my big mistake with this system choice--yeah it's much more reliable and robust than DIY...but when it does break or I want to make a change, I am at the mercy of a dealer. They can charge me $1000 if they wanted to for a truck roll, and what could I do? Heck they charged a few hundred dollars to replace an NVR that was under warranty. Yes I realize there are remote dealer arrangements and I had a great experience with that so far. People here are awesome. But this is a forum, not a support arrangement. It is done by dealers with integrity because they know how screwed up the whole arrangement can be with some dealer and customer combinations. When stuff is under warranty remote support isn't always the right choice for various reasons. And nor is that much of a warranty from the place I bought it from who can determine what a 1 year or 3 year warranty means. Cannot say I'd ever recommend it again because of this reason. But props to the folks here--you are all a bright spot in the arrangement.
  12. This is one of those cases where I cannot stand the attitude that some dealers believe they own MY system. I get held hostage.
  13. If so...Scoundrels!...it takes months to get them out here...really irritating
  14. Hi all, Have had Composer HE and OS 3.0 running for a while and all of a sudden when I opened Composer today, selected local system, it asked me for a system password. I don't remember ever getting that and I have already used my standard C4 user password from the website and didn't work. Am I missing or forgetting something? My dealer was just out a couple weeks ago to replace a failed Luma NVR, but I don't know how that would matter.
