    C4-V-OOSW120-BL in Crawspace

    Hi - curious if anyone has put a C4-V-OOSW120-BL (Outdoor Receptacle Plug-in Outlet Switch) or Lamp Switch in a crawlspace? I'm generally impressed with how wireless signals just "umm, err, find a way" 🙂 but the crawlspace is pretty well shut-in, no doors or windows.  I guess if I can use my mobile wifi from the crawlspace that would be a good enough test?

    Replying to my own note since I've now personally used and compared both the Finite Labs and Varietas Driver versions.  Here's my limited assessment:

     

    Cost

    • FiniteLabs list price on Driver Central is $250
    • Varietas Driver is listed as $200.  Strongly encourages use of a custom Raspberry Pi image for setup & management.  (Or buy a pre-installed Pi for $225)

    Support

    • Both provide quick responsive tech support to email requests
    • Both provide support for the lights/switches that I use in my system - I have UnifiProtect for cameras which I manage using a separate Homebridge plugin

    Ease of Use

    • Finite Labs is the clear winner here. My reasons are:
      • Integrates with stock homebridge (so you can easily use homebridge gui to manage set of C4 and non-C4 plugins
      • Loads the homebridge gui right from within the C4 management gui
      • no extra plugins/custom pi images to manage
      • I didn't do benchmarking, so this may be inaccurate but the FInite Labs -feels- more responsive. (Could be my imagination)

     

    Reset Switch LEDs to Default - missing something

    Hi,

    I want to reset my switch LEDs (Gen1) to their default Top/Bottom On/Off values and I thought this would happen automatically by making the changes in "Lighting Defaults" at the top of the project.  But it doesn't seem to be taking.  I also have LED Wizard installed which is why I want to reset the defaults (have "overplayed" with it a bit...).   I have set/reset different LED colors and rebooted the EA-5 director without any luck.  I'm probably missing something trivial at this point.

    And speaking of trivial, do y'all have a best practice for testing out scheduled actions beyond setting the schedule 2 minutes in the future and waiting? Like the "Advanced Lighting Scenes" has an Activate Scene button but there's not a scheduled test button?

    iPhone App won't connect locally

    Hi,

    For several days now, my iPhone app won't connect locally (I don't have/use insight for remote access).  Other devices (C4 Tablets, iPad) work just fine.

    iPhone App version is: Version 322.19.0.1515 (from 5/11/22)

    Version on C4 devices is: 3.2.4.615802

    Errors I notice in the log say:
      

    [Error][RealmRepository.swift:32] > [Realm Repository] Error: Migration is required due to the following errors:

 - Property '....' has been removed/added (lots of these)

    The logs show it otherwise connecting, proper username/password, etc..

    I have tried "Reset App" but I get the same results.

    Whole home switch upgrade discounting?

    Hi,

    Does C4 have any or standard upgrade pricing discounts or will this vary by dealer?  For example, I want to replace:
      

    33 x LDZ-101
 6 x LSZ-3W1
 4 x KPZ-6B1


    With newer gear (contemporary, essential) as well as add about 10 more switches as the previous owner hadn't gone "finished the job" when they went in with Control4.
    So, this ain't cheap and I get that this is definitely a first-world problem.  So I'm asking if any dealer will pretty much give the same price (C4 discounting) or if there's a lot of value in shopping around.

    I just installed and got this working over the weekend. I agree that it takes trial and error - also, not sure if this is applicable or not but it seemed like the first time it took a while to get the connection established.  I think I was too impatient -- got distracted for 5-10 minutes and found that it was working!  So try 1,2,5,6 in the C4 driver first, reboot the security panel and wait. Repeat.

    It seems to me that in your case, the AUI # is incorrect (either in the panel or in the C4 config), if you are getting all of the other right messages.  I also recommend ensuring the serial connection is accurate by connecting to a computer and verifying you actually see the data (or have your dealer unbind the serial port and use a terminal window to run minicom against the port [/dev/ttyUSB1 in my case]) to ensure traffic is flowing properly.

    Hello,

    I run unifi gear but appreciate that it's not recommended / supported by ontrol4.  My only comment is that  you're better off to use multiple wired discrete APs than a mesh network.  The mesh network itself uses the RF spectrum and you will require more "hops" to get to a wired ethernet interface out vs. using multiple APs.

    I'm led to believe that the LDZ-101 does not have an available color change kit?  I'd love to be wrong because I sorely want to swap out my almond. :)

    Hi - what is the recommended upgrade path for the LDZ-101?  Do I want the adaptive vs. the forward phase dimmer?   And, are there ever upgrade paths or tradein promos for customers that want a wholesale swap-out?  It's not a huge house by any stretch of the imagination, but 33 lights gets ... expensive ... if you just want to change the color. :)

    Thanks. Not to be dense, but you use c4 app to assign the room but then you can use either the Sonos App itself to control the music or the C4 App (for stored Sonos Favorites ). Do I have that right?

    If I use the Sonos Port, what are best practices around room assignment? (Do you typically assign a default room?  I suppose you have to use the C4 app to add the source, you can't do it from the Sonos app, correct?)

    My experience with music from Amazon Prime is pretty limited (2mil song catalog)— it pushes me to get an Amazon Music Unlimited (70+ mil song catalog).

    I don’t know how Sonos can have full Apple Music integration but Control4 can’t. My guess is c4 doesn’t want to pay the AM licensing fees. Which is dumb because they would just transfer that cost to us as a special driver ...
