Our SR-260 remote with a rechargeable battery will not turn off our tv. it turns it on and all other functionality appears to work. The TV's remote turns off the TV very briefly and then it comes right back on on its own. I tried rebooting the remote. Any ideas?

my c4 sr 26o remote won't turn off my tv. in fact the tv remote(a sony) wont either. I rebooted the remote with no luck. all other functionality appears to work. any ideas?
