  1. Being opinion doesnt make it untrue. Most NVR software is absolutely trash, completely lack of features or intuitive UI included in consumer crap like Alarm.com DigitalWatchdog is finally an option from Snap thats worth while. Unifis camera app is easily the best, but I need to use too diverse of a camera type to really use them in most jobs.
  2. I installed 87 Clare cams last year. Mostly because of the doorbell option and “waterfall” Ring type live camera layout. My major complaint of the turret is theres only one single mm set screw that attaches the camera sphere and shell to the mounted base. Just one.
  3. Please share with us your comprehensive list of what all corporations and universes prefer to use, are using and plan to use in the future.
  4. You can consider them whatever you want but they are definitely touch screens. Maybe just for fun answer the question asked which was how they compare?
  5. If your dad has composer pro and doesnt know about drivers or making them, not only does he not know everything about C4, he probably knows very little. This isnt a project for you. Sorry.
  6. 100%… I use Noon Lighting OLED keypads for elevated control in my Savant systems. Especially since clients can add or remove their own touch buttons and system scenes. They are VERY cool and a HUGE PITA to use all at the same time. Tactile controls make a huge difference in our primitive daily routine.
  7. Definitely making assumptions… that doesnt negate the obvious when it comes to big business’s marketing these types of moves. Profits and sales are the goal here, not product. Id love to know what liquidly of $800m after closing will bring…
  8. No no. All signs point to larger (but IMO quality diluted) access and integrations. Savant is trying to become more exclusive, higher end. It’s amazing how different their paths have been in the last 5 years and how poor each brand has been at it.
  9. My comment has nothing to do with C4. A lot of us integrators dont use ADI for reasons. However, if you think things were slowly evolving for Control4 now.. just wait.
  10. https://investors.snapone.com/news-releases/news-release-details/resideo-acquire-snap-one-expand-presence-smart-living-products Not great. End of an era.
  11. As a dealer I dont suggest proprietary panels. I am an iPad + iPort guy for all touch screen situations. WallSmart is also a great place to look.
  12. You can take the “dead’ balun and swap it with a working one in a different zone to verify it’s not a dead HDBT port. If the problem follows the balun it needs replaced otherwise it’s a bad matrix zone. HDBT is an industry standard
  13. Ha..ooof… no sorry not from a feature standpoint that I am aware of. I did forget that. I am always thinking about solutions that can be interchanged between control systems. I have used a few Mood players as static sources as well.
  14. Autonomic w/ SoundMachine, XM Business Theres also Sonos Pro
  15. Not exactly. Unifi does not have any rear port switches for example. Network switches are all somewhat the same and usually pretty good by any brand. Now that Araknis routers have OVRC and a half decent firewall they are not an awful choice. Id still use a more advanced firewall.. so thats 3 brands. Network management software is really just for convenience. Most network parameters are universal. The macbook going to sleep doesnt cause APs to go offline. I know this because I run lots of networks both ways.
  16. Because a lot of us pros don’t like those APs…
  17. Continue to run/manage your APs on your local machine. There’s absolutely no reason to use a cloud key or cloud account. The controller being “online” has no bearing on your network/wifi performance.
  18. I have (2) of theses Wattbox faceplate displays. I don’t utilize them in my projects so they have been shelf sitting for about a year. Maybe $100 each if anyone is interested?
  19. No. Old openers supported being hard wired just fine..but soldering to a keypad/remote has been the “standard” for a long time.
  20. A shorted keypad wire could open a garage door. Now they cant. It’s pretty simple and not at all about paid drivers that hardly ever exist.
