I have installed it in over 100 homes with no luck in any of them. Eventually it breaks I have it to help get it repaired or install ir control. I am floored to hear you have no issues. I know that their own 1st party control with the other ios devices does not work at times, which just further solidifies our position.

We've had mixed results - we have a few out there running on the IP driver but we've had enough issues - and enough trouble having clients on-site to activate it - that we've stopped using it. AppleTVs are either in a rack or behind a TV and hidden - and as the driver gives no true added functionality it's just not worse the hassle of even the setup

    I am the dealer. 😉
So what i understand from the feedback here in the thread is, that the latest upgrade itself doesn´t seem to be the problem and it should be working.
So i think i´ll go through a reboot/refresh cycle again with the client and if that doesn´t help, i´ll start from scratch and remove and re-pair the driver and the ATV.

There is a refresh command (may be called something else) on the bridge that will probably fix this.  I have programmed this as a custom button on my system (for the occasional loss of connection that I have had after an update) and also added it to my system start up code so that if a family member reboots Control4 in frustration, this will catch it and sort the problem.
I am only aware of losing connectivity twice in years (I have been using the driver since the day it was released) and this has fixed it both times.

I was actually the "everything besides wired is prone to failure"-type of guy and if wiring is not possible, use a proprietary system like zwave or zigbee.
However, i did a test install of some Shelly devices at my friends house and no issue was reported at all since then (a couple of months ago).
So i can confirm they are absolutely reliable and will start to use them in real client installs.
A stable wifi is an absolute requirement, but nowadays that´s the case anyway.

True - that´s why i pointed out that there´s an additional twist with handling software licenses as compared to just a hardware purchase.
I think what´s seen as "easy" and what not, depends on the customer´s point of view.
The customers i have would hate it if they had to deal with the purchase and license stuff related to 3rd party drivers themselves.
The more hands-on type of customer wouldn´t have a problem with that and potentially even prefer it.
I´ve got the impression the real problem here is that some of the users here just don´t like the dealer model anyway, so of course they hate the "blackwire approach" anyway.

Lets go back in time a bit.
When writing programming for things like Crestron, it wasn't unheard of to buy code for a product for an application rather than write it all yourself. These modules became integrated into the software for the home, and their cost incorporated into the final programming charge to the home owner, and locked through compiling. Rather invisible to the end user.
Now it's visible. A dealer needs code to make a project work. He buys the code from a programmer and charges the end user. This is the same business model that's always existed. Since the end user isn't in a position to program the system themselves, rather by design of the system, or by the training and understanding of programming that would be required, therefor the dealer is the buyer.
Granted today there's a lot more visibility, and the days of code being held hostage by the original programmer are mostly gone. But the transaction processes is still code sold to a dealer to resell to an end user.
The process is the same as it's always been.
I do also believe that today a home owner shouldn't be held hostage by a dealer. Control4 has pretty much solved that, you need a dealer, but you can transfer a system to any dealer at will, and there's software to make tweaks.
Driver distributors are stuck in the middle, they need to appease both the dealer and the end user. Revenue to a dealer and allowing for end user dealer changes. Not an easy place to be, and I for one don't have a better way to suggest.
As mentioned, tied to a project has it's faults, tied to a Control4 account has it's faults, so currently it's tied to a MAC address, and the buying dealer is in charge of and allowed to make changes.
So lets agree it's not perfect. And if anyone has a better idea, lets hear it.

I don´t see the big difference to other areas.
If you want to buy a Yamaha AVR, you can´t directly buy from Yamaha as an end-user.
There is Yamaha as the manufacturer, a distributor who sells stuff from the manufacturer to the dealer, the dealer sells to the end-user.
So the general concept is not new.
What´s a bit different with software is, that you don´t actually have a product in your hand, but you buy a license.
This needs some license management and there should indeed be a mechanism in place to "hand over" that license to the "end-customer" as part of the solution he gets from the dealer. So IMHO the "end-customer" should at least get some prove of purchase for 3rd party drivers so he can ownership in case the dealer dispappears.

After all, there´s some procurement and license management to be done by the dealer.
The dealer is the customer in the portal, purchases the license and then assigns to the endusers (his clients) project. The dealer is doing this for multiple endusers.
That´s how the mechanism works - the dealer´s an essential part of the process. And this is nothing new -  it works this way in many other businesses as well. (perhaps besides the license piece)

For general use Binary is fine.. but the cost then becomes unnecessary compared to other inexpensive brands. AVPro is the performance hardware.

Yes, i like these a lot. Our home cinema speaker come with Speakon connectors by default. Rock solid and they are locked when connected.
However, on the rack side, they need quite some space so we usually wire them directly into the amps without a patch panel.

I know this response is late, but wanted to share my experience/feedback.
My opinion, if it's a small network, no automation, no AV rack.  The client just wants a professional network installation there is two options.
Install the switch into a wall mounted shelving system. Wiring everything directly into the switch with a service loop bundled behind the equipment.  We're talking approx 10-12 outlets, maybe some POE for access points is ok. Ideal for rear facing network equipment. Or if you have front facing network equipment, you can install a patch panel.  I prefer non punch down panels and individual jacks because it's easier to troubleshoot.  it's troublesome to re-configure wire in large bundles on punch down panels.  You don't want to pop 1 conductor of a random wire on a punch down panel. However, if you're doing a small - large home automation system, have an AV rack, and plan on using automation long term, I HIGHLY recommend going with a patch panel.
During the course of time (18 years for my personal home) equipment changes.  If you installed something at the bottom of the rack, re-wire and install a replacement item at the top of the rack you're now creating additional work and more places where things go wrong. It sucks to have to make jumpers or extend wires inside the AV rack.  After a while it just gets messy.  After time, it's hard to keep track of what's what. I had to change my system out numerous times.  Prior to going with a patch panel it always sucked changing stuff out and I dreaded having to make large changes.  Now, it's much, much easier. We wire from the patch panels into the AV racks for a super clean look.  Changing out or adding wires is much easier this way.
A large part of our business is doing what we call 'take over jobs' in our industry.  I present exhibit A, B, C and D.

A= A small wall mounted shelf with rear facing network equipment. @RyanE will probably approve of the network switches.

B = Our standard Patch panels for our clients.  We make every connection live for customer ease.

C = Take over job and completed patch panel.

D = Not our work, this is what can happen when things get out of control. PS.  I hope it uploads in the correct order heh.  I'm not taking credit for the messy work.
EDIT:  First time uploading to these forums... I was hoping it would upload thumbnails, but nope.  Super big pictures.. sorry everyone 🙈

That's ok Zaphod, we won't hold that against you .  Our patch panels and AV racks are the accumulation of 13+ years in the industry.  We are continuously trying to improve each one we do.  We even custom make panels and equipment to achieve our vision.  If you'd like to check out more of our work, I welcome you to check out our Instagram page.

Nothing at all against Araknis, and I understand the convenience of OVRC from a business perspective very well - but for your own system if you HAVE a running Ruckus setup, I also can't grasp why you'd want to change it out. OVRC is nice, but hardly world changing.

Now if you feel you need OVRC to deal with issues at the house because it is needed often, you may want to look at the why vs implementing a work-around to keep it going....

Why do you think it´s a general problem with the brand?  If there are issues with a network, replacing the equipment with another brand would be very, very low in the list.
Networking is not trivial to setup and a lot of components need to work with each other.
There are lots of things that can cause issues: misconfigured switches, misconfigured endpoints, badly behaving endpoints, for wifi often (mostly) the endpoint is the problem, not the AP, cable issues, etc.
You said "i began working with my original dealer" - has that changed? Who did setup the network?

Well, it might be a cheap way of getting an easy to include option that's also easy DIY install.
Any half-decent LED specialty store will have much higher grade strips for the same price including a powersupply and controller, but it likely requires soldering etc.

When selling a house, you don´t sell a long list of pieces, you sell the whole thing.
If you can sell it without your automation system depends on how it was designed. If the basic functionality is self-sufficient (e.g. based on a bus-system) and the home automation is designed on top of it for the comfort functionality, then it should be possible to sell without the automation system (or at least ask the buyer what he prefers).
If it´s all tied together, then the automation system is part of the house and taking it out would reduce the value of the whole house much more than just the value of the automation hardware, because that would leave the house disfunctional.
