  1. I'm an embedded systems developer by trade and have professional experience with Lua and other scripting languages. I wish C4 had a mechanism for non dealers to help develop drivers for others to use. I get why they don't (how would they be integrated / wild west of half ass drivers out there / non-dealer dev environment required / etc), its just a bummer. I have several products I'd like to build my own drivers for in my spare time. I've also seen bugs in existing drivers I'd love to fix or make enhancements to.
  2. We have a "small" installation and while its with dated hardware, I don't think we could replace its functionality with anything else for a reasonable amount of money. We have a single home theater room (projector, bluray, cable box, roku, 5.1 receiver) run from a single HC250/RC250. Running 2.10.6. Planning on adding C4 light control in that room only at some point. We do have a second set of speakers upstairs on the receivers' Zone 2, but we only use that thru phone control. When I look at other options that *could* control all those devices from a single remote for $500-$1000, the closest thing is a Harmony Hub remote, but thats all via IR. I like the bidirectional communication that Control4 has with thousands of pieces of hardware. Drivers gallore. And C4 has HE to allow me to make some changes, which other "pro" systems don't offer at all. C4 isn't perfect and I'm running on an older version but it does what we need it to do. Single RF remote integration for a very high WAF in the home theater. All componets hidden in an equipment room makes it a nice clean install. For some of our other "smart home" devices (outside lights, monitoring freezer doors) we use Smartthings. Using a smart home type interface for the home theater would be a mess. Zwave switches/outlets work fine for what we need them to do in those cases. Good luck, OP!
  3. We changed our account information recently. It originally was setup in my wife's ex husbands name, but everything was changed over to ours. Account name, users, emails, etc. All switched over. You can edit the Account Name yourself in https://customer.control4.com/account. Account creation date still shows the original date of creation (over 8 years ago).
  4. Researching dimmers for a small C4 upgrade. Looking at the Essential line from C4 - they looked familiar to me but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Jasco Embrighten Series (branded as GE/Honeywell/etc). https://byjasco.com/enbrighten-zigbee-in-wall-smart-dimmer-with-quickfittm-and-simplewiretm-white-almond C4 Essential: Definitely based on the same unit. Different switch plate of course. I'm guessing like other C4 Zigbee products they use a different profile so the Jasco direct ones aren't compatible. But still I found it interesting. The plugin outlet/dimmers look just like the Jasco made/rebranded units as well. I do have several of the Jasco made Zwave plug in switch/dimmers and they work fine with my ST hub, so not knocking Jasco. Just hadn't seen it mentioned here yet.
  5. I wanted to give my positive feedback and thanks to @chopedogg88 for all his help with my recent upgrade on my HC250 based setup. Like many of you, I inherited my system (mine was thru marriage). It was installed in 2013 at version 2.5.0, and hadn't had a thing done to it since. As times and equipment changed, my wife just learned to live with the issues and limitations. I decided it would be nice to get those issues resolved, but did not want to get goosed by the local installer having to charge their normal rates (plus travel, etc.) I saw some remote integrators advertising on eBay and thought that was an interesting option. A google search turned up this forum, and Ari's glowing feedback made me reach out. I signed up to c4forums for the sole purpose of contacting Ari and getting started on our project. Ari was patient and explained in detail what I needed and how best to go about things. My HC250 is now on 2.10.6 and my laundry list of issues were addressed! Emails were returned quickly and the work was done above and beyond what I was looking for. Value for the money was excellent. My wife gave it a big . I look forward to using Ari in the future for all our Control4 needs!
