  1. From an audio perspective only, what is better for distribution for 21 zones? Doing a Triad 16 and Triad 8 (stacked properly) or doing Binary Moip audio senders for each audio zone? Not worried so much about the audio quality, just looking for which will be most dependable, work the smoothest in the C4 app, and play continuously without crashing. My wife and I like to keep either Pandora or Sirius XM playing softly in the various zones (probably 5-6 zones) nearly 24 hours a day. It's like "mall music" in the house to us and when the music is off, we feel like something is missing, lol.
  2. But what is your opinion on stacking the Triad 18 and 8 zone amp to cover the 21 audio zones vs simply getting one larger audio matrix? Do you agree that stacking them is generally not a great idea?
  3. This is not good to hear. I had heard the Triad Amps fail, but had not heard their Matrix isn't good or they shouldn't be stacked. And my wife and I use the audio in the home alot, we literally have it playing all the time, for background music. We're not really worried about audio quality, just that it plays and doesn't cut in/out and plays continuously. Can I ask what some better brands for the Audio Matrix would have been than Triad? Considering I needed to cover 21 zones?
  4. We are pretty simple there. We just have His/Her Apple TV, and His/Her Xfinity cable boxes. And then another Apple TV for the theater room.
  5. Need some quick opinions here guys, I have (2) C4 integrators telling me different things. House has 21 audio zones, and 7 TV zones. Company A wants to install AV Pro Edge MXNET-1G's for video distribution and then have the audio done by stacking a 16 zone Triad Matrix on an 8 zone Triad Matrix to cover the 21 audio zones. Company B is saying this not good, and that audio Matrix's can mess up when stacked? They are saying they would have used (28) Binary MoIP's to cover both the audio and video zones, and then simply had Binary MoIP power the amplifiers vs mixing AV Pro with Triad products. Who is right here? Company B is also claiming this is a smarter move because Binary MoIP will allow IP control of TV's easier and it's a more reliable Snap AV product?
  6. @msgreenf @CTMatthew I purchased a 9,000 SF home recently that had an existing & extensive Ubiquiti Network and Ubiquiti Camera system in place (15-16 total cameras). It says "Dream Machine Pro" when I log into the Protect App to see the cameras, if that matters. We are now converting the home to Control 4, can you tell me if the Ubiquiti cameras can be ported into C4? My other house has LUMA, and it works great with C4, I hope Ubiquiti cameras do too.
  7. Thanks. Any further thoughts on the AVPro Edge AC-MXNET vs Binary (which does have Eth pass through)? I am still at the point where we could return things and shoot for IP control. I have pretty much all LG TV's. I guess the IR control doesn't bother me, and maybe it is OK for my integration? My wife and I are using two centralized Apple TV's and Cable Boxes, so the TV's are basically used as monitors only, we don't control the TV functions (or want to).
  8. Can anyone speak with me on the advantages of IP control vs IR control? Are most integrations today being done with IP or IR control? The project cost for this house will be in the $100-200K range, so I want it done right.
  9. The home is actually currently on a Ubiquiti network with multiple Ubiquiti access points, network switches, and even 14-15 UB cameras. Does anyone know if the Ubiquiti cameras can be integrated into C4? I have LUMA at my lake house, and the integration with C4 is great. My new house came with all the Ubiquiti stuff from a prior owner, and I'm hoping it will all work with C4.
  10. My proposal says AVPro Edge AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-EV2. Is this superior to Binary MoIP? Or should I have just gone with Binary?
  11. Hello--I am currently working with two different integrators on my large home with 7-8 TV zones. Company #1 convinced me to go with AV Pro Edge and original told me we would do IP control and no IR--so things like Siri Voice would work--but when they did the install last week they told me they had to use IR because we only had (1) network wire behind each TV and it need to used for the AV Pro balun, not the TV. And without having the TV on a wired network, he did not recommend IP control (I agree with this). Company #2 told me I should have used Binary/MoIP, not AV Pro, because Binary has an in/out network port on the balun which allows (1) network cable to do everything and no IR is needed for the TV? Which company is correct here? This is my 3rd or 4th house with Control 4, so I'm a little versed in what goes on. I went with AV Pro because I thought it was a top brand and I've had baluns burn out/go bad at some of my other properties (mostly Altona brand). I just hope I didn't make a mistake by going with AV Pro vs Binary MoIP. Please advise.
  12. When you hit Listen in OS3, I noticed it recently displays shortcut channels at the top and says "Recently Played." However, it appears to only show Sirius XM channels? If I listen to a Pandora station or different source it is not displayed in "Recently Displayed?"
  13. So I guess that plastic clear piece removes and you can just place a printed paper label behind it? How does this work?
  14. We just had a keypad DS2 installed and that was my girlfriend's first reaction: How do visitors know which button to press? My integrator is saying to put a label like "Doorbell" up in that lighted part? Can anyone even tell me what that lighted part is for on the DS2? We had to get the keypad version to actuate a deadbolt door lock on front door. I will admit it's a bit confusing to have both a "call/phone" button and a "ring" button to the right of the circled area. Maybe both those buttons could be programmed to ring the door bell?
  15. When using NEEO for Apple TV, you can use the directional pad to either fast forward or reverse, but when you press the center "OK" button nothing happens. Can this button be programmed to simulate "Play" and stop the fast forwarding? Also, when you hit the OFF button to stop watching TV, the room just doesn't turn off. Instead, a message on the screen pops up wanting you to confirm "ROOM OFF" again. I find this annoying, can the OFF button be programmed to simply turn the TV off without having to also hit a room off command pop-up on the remote screen?
  16. What is official? We are currently deciding between the C4 DS2 and Doorbird for our house. What changed that makes Door Bird more attractive? Why is the DS2 bad?
  17. Doesn't Control 4 also own LUMA or something? Knowing that, shouldn't this be a flawless integration between the two? Sounds like maybe my integrator doesn't know what he's doing when porting the LUMA cameras into 4 or something. They are VERY blurry when you expand the view, and this was his fix because before the camera views wouldn't expand at all and were only showing thumbnails...
  18. Thanks guys, I have installed the bond bridge and all fans are working fine off the bond app right now. Hopefully Bond and C4 have a good integration and then I'll be home free.
  19. Here’s the actual fans I have. Looks like they are “6-speed DC reverse on remote” for their control. How do I get these on C4? https://fanimation.com/products/fans/indoor/prop/
  20. We have (5) LUMA 510 (2) LUMA 710 cameras going into a new integration. The thumbnail previews in the C4 app look excellent and very clear, but we couldn't get the thumbnail images to expand when you click on them. My integrator finally got the thumbnails to expand, but the solution was they had to downgrade the resolution on the camera view? So now, the thumbnail looks good, but when it expands the camera view is very grainy and crappy quality? I was told to go with LUMA because they are owned by C4 and integrate well, how is this possible? Has anyone else had issues with LUMA cameras not expanding the thumbnails unless you downgrade the camera view to a crappy resolution?
  21. I'm working with an integrator right now who is struggling to control 7-8 ceiling fans in my home. The fans all appear newer, Fanimation brand, and the prior homeowners had those annoying fan speed remote controls in each room. Going to C4, we were really hoping to ditch all the fan remotes, and my integrator assured me the C4 fan controllers on the wall would control the fan speeds so we ordered a bunch of C4 fan controllers. That said, with the C4 switches now installed, the fans are giving us issues. They will trigger on/off, but when we cut the fan speed down at all the fans basically go extremely slow and nearly come to a stop with no other speed control. The fan remotes allow for 6 different speeds. Next, we had electricians here and the C4 integrator told them to "remove the brain" from the fan itself, but the electricians reported "the brain is built into the fan." Are my fans not going to be compatible with C4 fan speed controllers? Pictures of the fans, fan remotes, and some wiring at the fan are attached. I hate the idea of keeping these remotes around when going to a "smart home" system with T4 touchscreens right on the wall!
  22. To update this thread, I ended up going with Company #2 and the Just Add Power option. We might be moving from this house to a larger house within 1-2 years, and my logic was at least then I can take the JAP stuff with me and have an expandable system. We are not huge "TV picture" obsessed people who are always chasing the latest frame rate and all of that. As long as it's a good HD picture that looks decent, we are good. So I think JAP will suit us well. I appreciate everyone's input on this thread, tons of great comments!
  23. I think for us the decision came down to our other home having Control 4. That home was a VERY extensive integration with indoor/outdoor lighting, many audio/video zones, and alot of $$$ spent on Control 4. I tried Savant on a cheaper 2nd home, and I had a very bad experience with the Savant thermostat (which I still feel is junk) and wanted to use Nest. That's when I found that Savant really doesn't want to play well with other products, they want you to buy their products. So that kind of turned me off to Savant, and now having both our homes one one app (C4) will be nice. Savant seems to be slightly more expensive than C4 when you really start getting into it. I might do Savant on the next home, I do like their products but just wish they would work better with 3rd party sources. I spent a YEAR before I figured out the Savant T-Stat was trash and showing incorrect temps, I think they fixed that now with some kind of sensor update, but it should never have been a problem in a T-stat they are charging you $500-700 dollars for when a $250 Nest T-Stat is superior in every way and works with C4.
  24. LOL, ok now you have to elaborate on that comment. We have C4 on our other house up north, so I have experience using both. When C4 went to OS3 I felt it closed the gap of the app/interface a little + I just got the feeling C4 integrated with more partners more easily than Savant does. But please do elaborate on Savant being superior, I'm honestly curious now. Guess I could still go Savant at this home if I want to.
