  1. Hello, I am not a C4 dealer. I am trying to see if it is possible to my Luma 500 DVR to OvrC. From some Youtube video it seems it is pretty easy, but I was not able to make it work. My home network is very simple: I have a ASUS router and a Luma 500 DVR. Currently I use port forwarding to access Luma from internet. My goal is to use LumaLink to access the Luma. The problem I encountered was when I put my Luma's MAC address in Add Device box, it always show "Device Not Found" error. Do I need any additional hardware? or a dealer to do it? I was able to set up an account on OvrC.com though. Thanks!
  2. Control 4 equipment for sale. Local pick up in Los Angeles, CA 90036. C4-EA1 $200 C4-EA1 $200 C4-HC800, $200 Audio Matrix C4-16ZAMSV3-B, $500
  3. Thanks Jakelay! This is very helpful. I have played two setups last a few weeks just to see the difference. I got exactly same conclusion as yours. What I end up doing is to Roku/ATV on amplifier directly and skip the matrix. Blu-ray player, security camera, etc. left on the matrix. My setup was pretty simple. I actually think if previous owner did not leave the matrix for me, I probably do not even need it because those sources are rarely used and I can treat them as local sources and leave them in one room. Two other reasons that made me go with this setup were I notices the matrix seemed occasionally crash from time to time, like once per movie or something. When it crashes, the TVs shows snow signal. Another reason was I have two new TVs and one old TV. The old one has lower resolution. Using matrix is not easy to manage the EDID issue. I also thought about using TV to streaming directly. In my wiring, on TV side, there are only two CAT cables, one for LAN, another one for video. The only way I can see is to use ARC to return audio to my amplifier. While looking at the price of the video extender with ARC feature, the cost actually more than ATV. So I did not go that route. If previous owner did not leave extenders, I would consider this route as well.
  4. Some update on this troubleshooting. I noticed on Luma Phone app, when playing back videos, it has an option to toggle high resolution or medium resolution videos. If I set to high, the video looks beautiful. Both Luma VMS PC software and Luma Phone app connect to port 8000. Since phone app works, I would assume the problem is on the PC software. My understanding is Luma VMS somehow decided to use the low resolution stream to play back the video. Somehow I need a way to change it to use high resolution stream. After carefully reading Luma VMS manual, I noticed the following description in the camera group setting under manage device tab: "Playback Stream Type: Select the stream for the playback of the camera. This only displays if it supports dual-stream." Looks like it does have a way to enable high resolution stream for playback. Now, the problem is that selection of Playback Stream Type did not even show up! I am not sure if this is a bug on VMS software.
  5. I have a Luma 500 DVR inherited from previous owner. The issue I encountered seems to be extremely basic. Hope someone can give me some clue where to look at. 1. I can use the very old IE to log into the device and do everything I want. The problem is IE is so old and out of support from Microsoft. When I try some modern browsers, I got an error said failed to detect plug in. Besides IE, is there any browser supported using PC? 2. I prefer to use PC to operate Luma. So I downloaded Luma VMS software and in a hope that I can avoid using IE. Luma VMS seems to cover all the features browers provided but the problem I encountered is the playback image quality is bad. I attached two sample images that shows playback from IE and Luma VMS. Do I miss any settings that can improve Luma VMS playback? The weird thing is the live view on VMS software looks good and matches IE. Only Remote Playback is bad.
  6. Thanks Ryan. It is good to know that. I also do not believe I can tell the difference.
  7. That's very true. I might have to use HC800 to do Amazon music as it has the analogy audio output for a C4 Audio matrix. Appreciate for all the help!
  8. Thanks Ryan. I appreciate it. I like this forum so much!
  9. Thanks msgreenf and zaphod for the fast reply! Zaphod, you are right that I indeed trying to evaluation if I need all 3 controllers. The HC800 is older but supposed to be more powerful. The two EA-1s are newer though... Just to my knowledge, if in a setup indeed needs 3 controllers, typically we assign one as permanent "director" or any of them can function as a director dynamically depending on situation?
  10. I inherited 4 SR-260 Remotes and 3 Controllers from previous owner. I am trying to understand how they communicate each other before calling a dealer to program. Below is my guess. I appreciate if someone can point out where I am wrong. I assume each SR-260 has its own ID. When a button is pressed, all 3 controllers can "see" the event of button being pressed. The "program" set up by Composer Pro on *each* controller decides how the individual controller reacts on the same event. This is the scenario of how multiple controllers orchestrated together. Or, the alternative scenario I am not sure is if it is only *one* controller handles the button event. Then *this* controller sends signs to other controllers to trigger certain actions. Or, both above scenarios are supported? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the analysis. I will try this out.
  12. Good Info. Looks like frame rate is 24 fps. As we are not talking about video games, does that mean 30Hz TV can handle it well?
  13. Thanks Jeff for the clarification. In my case, I actually have an amplifier for each room - two Integra DTR 30.6 and one Denon AVR-X4400H. I do not need to watch same source across multiple TVs. Let me try 4K/30Hz first and see how it goes.
  14. Ultra has a HDMI out, no individual audio out.
