  1. I have been using these fellows to troubleshoot issues with a system in a house I've moved into. They've been great, including with a couple of especially thorny problems -- integrating a TV that did not want to play nice with the rest of the system, and resuscitating a piece of hardware the old owners weren't using so I could further expand the system. Top recommendations all around!
  2. Confirming that worked! This shows up in the driver list as "Security Light" and then when added populates as "Security-Courtesy Light," as suggested. Thank you.
  3. I have a NYCE motion sensor in our master closet. It is set to turn on the closet lights and "start" a count-down timer. The Stop Motion Delay value for the motion sensor is set at 20 seconds. The "if running" explanation for the timers agent says "(if running): Starts the timer over and fires the 'reset' event. Timer state: Running." The way I interpret the above, then, is that after first detecting motion the NYCE sensor waits 20 seconds and, if it detects motion after that period, it fires off another "motion detected" signal and the timer should reset. The count-down time is set for 1 minute, so there should be an avenue of 40 seconds for motion to be detected and the cycle to start again. That never happens. I could be doing jumping jacks in the closet and the counter never resets. I've enabled logging in the NYCE sensor and it appears to send a "no motion" signal after roughly its Stop Motion Delay and then does nothing after that. (Log for two events below, what I believe to be a motion signal and that a no-motion signal.) It faithfully detects initial entry into the closet but then appears to ignore motion after that. Any ideas? Thanks! 4. Anyone know of a way to integrate these lights into C4? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP1MPQP. They work with Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT, and come with an app "Smart Life," which appears to be able to control a variety of things. It isn't the end of the world if I can't get them integrated, but I thought I'd check. Thanks!
  5. Not a critical need, as pressing the button on the controller turns it on, but is anyone aware of an IP command I can send a Playstation 5 to power on/wake? Thanks!
  6. Just tapped this team to do some quick work on a new home I've moved into. I swapped out TVs and they got them up and running navigating some tricky IP control issues in a snap. I expect to continue to rely on them to help on issues I can't solve in ComposerHE.
  7. I believe the answer is that each family member's phone needs to have the shortcuts; iOS does not appear to automatically sync shortcuts between family members. I've been texting the shortcuts I want my kids to have access to. Here are various ways to share: https://www.imore.com/how-share-your-shortcuts-others-and-how-add-shared-shortcuts.
  8. Super simple, and now I'm walking around my house barking "Activate Kitchen" into my Watch like a science fiction movie. Honestly, @alanchow you should rename this "Basic Siri Support (plus a bunch of other TCP stuff)" driver. @zaphod, what sorts of things are you using it for?
  9. Yes, to circle back to this, I ended up starting with the TCP driver and it is doing everything I need it to so far. Set up was really easy.
  10. What can a full Homebridge installation do that the Chowmain TCP driver can't? Is it just seeing state information in the iOS Home app? My intended use is mainly to trigger various lighting changes from Siri, Watch, and iPhone. ("Turn off all lights." "Turn on kitchen lights." etc.) Thanks!
  11. I should add for others that find this thread in search, this thread has some useful advice but appears to involve a system that is capable of passing HDMI 2.1 (or that wasn't concerned about this issue):
  12. I have moved homes and am in the process of merging my equipment with the existing electronics. I am bringing an LG C9 screen, a Denon AVR-X2600H receiver, and a PlayStation 5. The existing system has an Arcam 550 receiver in an equipment closet; it is older but the dealer swears by the audio quality. The question for this thread is how to best incorporate the Playstation 5. My understanding is that neither of the receivers can pass HDMI 2.1, so to get that I'd need to connect directly to the LG (which does support it). Then I need to get audio to the receiver. In my previous (much simpler, non-Control4) set-up, I did this via eARC. The Denon supports that; the Arcam supports ARC. (Either would be fine with me, as the loss of some of the top-end encoding by going with ARC doesn't seem critical.) My dealer responds on that "ARC is not the solution because it is not a reliable solution. It is not recommended or supported by Control4. ARC can cause issues like devices turning on and off or inputs switching on their own. For that reason, it is not recommended by C4 to use in their setups. ARC can cause an AV system to get out of sync, and we would not support that type of connection with a Control4 setup." Instead they are proposing a AV Pro Edge 8K 4x2 matrix switcher, which looks like it costs $1,200. At that price I feel like it makes sense to look into a new receiver, as the latest gen Denon units will pass HDMI 2.1. Any simpler/cheaper solutions that still tick the boxes? (Highest quality video, good quality audio, low/no latency.) Thanks, and happy Thanksgiving!
  13. Thanks. Is that alterable? (By a dealer.)
  14. Thank you both, this was very helpful. (And best of luck to you in launching a new business, Nick!) There is still one nuance to my question I'm not sure of the answer to: Example Room X. Room X has main overhead lights. The main overhead lights are presently controlled from 4 separate switches at various entrances to Room X. Each switch presently behaves identically. In ComposerHE, all I see for Room X is "Main Overhead Lights." I do not see, e.g., Switch 1, Switch 2, etc. I can alter the tap programming for Main Overhead Lights, but it applies equally to each of the 4 switches. Reading Cy and Nick's responses, I take it this is because of dealer-level bindings? That somewhere on the dealer end these individual switches have been bound together into a Main Overhead Lights group, and that ComposerHE is only capable of interacting at that group level? Do I understand that correctly?
  15. Just purchased a home with an established Control4 system. Just downloaded ComposerHE. Tinkering around in it, and so I expect I may be pestering this nice community with a question or two. My first curiosity: are switches individually addressable? Practical example: a room has main lighting and 4 separate switches wired to turn on and off that main lighting. Can I set one of those switches to respond to a double tap in a certain way , and another to respond a different way? I don't see a way to do this in HE, but that may be because (i) the dealer who set this up grouped the switches together (likely sensibly) in a way that doesn't currently permit this; (ii) it just isn't possible; (iii) it is possible right now and I'm just not appreciating how to do it. (These appear to be standard Control4 switches if it makes a difference.) Thanks!
