Def suss. Try decommissioning the hc-800 and having the ea5 run the system. It sounds like you are not expanding. Maybe updating to OS3 might alleviate the reliability issues. I would try to solve issue before tossing more money into it. The cost in “upgrading” to a savant system would rival (or surpass) the cost to patch and paint you place.

Ipads and launch ports are better option in my opinion. They dont look nearly as good though.

Its easier done with a backplate on an ipad mounted to the wall. personally the set ups that work best in my opinion are those where control4 does the least. Im not knocking control4 in anyway. I just think things can be done better and cheaper by using third party hardware and integrating it on C4

I think its easier to get a better box. Something that is a deterrent itself. I live in Los Angeles, and the crime rate here is through the roof. Its a well known that police are not responding to burglary/ theft unless someone is actively being hurt. This gives the low lives enough courage to set off alarms and continue with the crime.

A long time ago i saw a PCI card that allowed custom IR programming. You could potentially have C4 control the pc. I have not heard of anyway to connect a keyboard on zigbee/C4. I hope someone chimes in with a solution for you.
