Is it possible to vary the color across the different buttons of a keypad - or is it one color for the entire keypad? I'm using Composer HE and have seen a reference that implies different buttons can have different backlight colors, but can't see how to do it. I'd like the buttons controlling lights to be backlit in white, shades in green, fans in blue, etc. Possible? Thanks in advance.

What configuration or permissions are required to allow remote access to my C4 system? I can connect locally with Composer HE but am getting an access denied error when trying to connect remotely. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It was pretty simple - the lighting control modules C4-DIN-8APD-E (7 installed) weren't communicating reliably when daisy chained by ethernet. tying each one independently to a switch cleared up the problem. It was the controller at the end of the chain (7 out of 7) that exhibited the obvious behavior, but the status led's on the others were indicating they weren't real happy flashing orange and green) although loads on the other controllers seemed fine. The documentation for the controller says not to chain more than 6 but the installer said they hadn't seen this problem before.

In case anyone is still interested, there was a network problem in my house which was causing some other control 4 problems. Once that was resolved, the iPad app seems to be behaving normally.

Hello all - I have composer HE loaded up and have a some questions. 1) when programming keypads, how do you add a new load? Say I want to add a 4th button to a keypad and then have it control light A, which is not currently attached to the keypad, but the connections feature seems to be absent from HE. Is this true and if so is there a workaround? 2) I'm a little confused with the various parameters around advanced lighting scenes. Would someone explain the relationship between toggles and active/inactive? I assume that toggle scenes are used to move between two different states of a scene, say all lights on and all lights off, which could get complicated if lights in the scene are controlled in other ways than the control used to toggle between on/off. But how does active/inactive play here? 3) within a scene, what does tracking do? In the Advanced Lighting agent, there is a button for tracking all loads or any load - what's the difference? Can you point me to something that describes the different options for use of a keypad - touch modes, lighting options, colors, etc. I am a pretty experienced programmer and want to understand what can be done with the keypads. At this point, I want information to direct the integrator and customize our installation, but will eventually be interested in the Composer HE to make changes directly. Thanks in advance!

Hello - I am a new C4 customer and experienced programmer, also with some experience with HA. What is the overall status of Composer HE, and do most users find it helpful?

My house is set up with C4 lighting controllers. My installer with the support team did identify an anomalous behavior with the iPad app, reproduced the issue repeatedly, but today I checked before writing this post and it seems to be behaving properly. We did all the normal debugging steps to no avail yesterday. For now, I'll move on to other more pressing items. Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I haven't yet started to debug the problem and will start with the installer. At this point, I was more trying to determine expectations, and based on the replies, it seems like users find it the iOS app is a good application. If I need to come back to the forum for help on this issue, I will provide more info as you request. I do have a lot of troubleshooting experience and know that specific actionable info really helps lead to a solution. Thanks again! This forum is a great resource.

We have a new home with freshly installed C4 home automation system. I am familiar with a similar Crestron system from another home. I have noticed some odd behavior with the iPad app in that it doesn't consistently follow actions from the keypads or the touchscreens. For example, sliders on the app don't always follow a dimming action on the keypad for a given light. I would expect that the keypad and the iOS app would be completely synchronized. What do you all think? Thanks in advance.
