  1. I'm eager to see the new X20 Routers and Switches hit. Yeah they're expensive but the reality is our clientele doesn't want to have to be Network Engineers to build and maintain their home networks. The key that I see that Snap One has to do is continue to build out OvrC so that it's the crown jewel and judging from the PR about their continued investment in the backend stuff it appears that's what they're doing. With Software Defined network control every vendor has essentially an "OvrC" so Snap has to continue to drive functionality and value. If Snap updates the hardware kit for PCNA to Wifi 6 WAP and X20 Router and Switches I'll get certified. The Networking geek in my wants one of these AV companies to deliver a NextGeneration Firewall as an option.
  2. Me myself I always like to look at new stuff in the lighting category. Are you guys going to attend Cedia this year?
  3. Considerations for multiple SPAN Panels: We’re excited to build out additional functionality for customers with multiple SPAN Panels via free over-the-air updates. In the current software version, we offer the following functionality: Each SPAN Panel will report data separately within the SPAN Home App. Circuits from individual SPAN Panels are not able to be mixed into groups. A single battery storage can be connected to only one SPAN Panel. We recommend locating all essential backup loads on the backed-up SPAN Panel. SPAN Support is happy to provide installation recommendations for this configuration. Alexa can only be linked to one SPAN Panel. SPAN subpanels will be shown as a single Area.
  4. What do you use for your XML editor? Oxygen is pretty expensive
  5. I'm new to C4 and still relatively young (4 years) with knowing Savant's lineup. I agree with @Control4Savant take. Going from Savant to C4 can be a bit startling because the options expand so much. That being said Savant doing most of their own Profiles delivers a bit more comfort in knowing things work. I also agree that video feeds have to be in main interface. Savant's investment in lighting is 2nd to none in the space. The Lighting Manager for speccing USAI lights is drop dead simple. As a guy that used to be in solar the UI for viewing energy is "already" better than 90% of the existing market. I think Control 4 can make hay in the midmarket but a 1%'er home is going to come off very well with a Savant system especially if it's a new construction home because you can integrate branch circuits, lighting loads and energy monitoring all in the same panels connected to ESS storage. I'm excited though to see where the next few years takes this vertical regardless.
  6. Still liking the Leviton Load Center as flexible system with Smart Breakers to add as little or as much meterings as you would like
  7. Have you checked out the forthcoming Pulse system from Schneider? I think Control4 would be best to align with a few large vendors that have the right hooks into the system. Schneider is already on Gen 2 (with their first system called the Energy Center) and they've got currently established inroads with Builder and Electricians that know the products. All they have to do is make their software extensible to tie in with partners. Interestingly LiFePO4 batteries didn't see much of a price increase during Covid which tells me ESS pricing needs to come down from the major vendors. 13Kw ESS for 20 grand is a joke. No one is asking vendors to give product way but let's be reasonable. I just saw Savant acquired POMCube. It's an interesting ESS/Hybrid Inv system. I guess we'll see what they're about at Cedia. I'm bullish on the potential for Energy. Consumers have a decade to leverage 30% tax credits so the interest is only going to improve in many areas.
  8. I'm partial to Enphase because their Micro-Inverters are probably the most reliable out there and they do a good job with their ESS, Combiner and other products. I clearly see the advantages of incorporating Energy into Control Systems. The ability to tie in Load Shedding within user created scenes is powerful. The future of EV becoming more common place produces a need for efficient charging or discharging EV batteries (Vehicle to Grid, Vehicle to Home). I'm like a lot of people ..tired of being under the foot of my local energy co-op for high energy costs in the summer only to be bludgeoned by my natural gas provider in the winter. I'm serving two Oligarchs when what I really want is my own Kingdom.
