blenherr
We had a new install with a HC250 and SR260 controlling cable box, DVD and Samsung TV. And then the customer pulled out a ATV 4.... I assumed that would be no problem because surely Apple would make it backward compatible. Note: some people on this forum said they had no problem making ATV4 work... I guess I just wasn't as lucky. I installed using IR driver and it seemed to work until we found Pause did not work on music and did not work in some apps. So, we switched to the IP driver and it seemed to work until the next day when it lost pairing after the ATV went in sleep mode. C4 acknowledged both of these as known issues and that they were working on a driver but until then it is not a supported device. Well, that was not an acceptable answer for this customer and he suggested we take the C4 equipment out if it couldn't control everything.... Here is the workaround I came up with that seems to work : Install a DVD driver with IR & HDMI (I used a Sharp DVD-S48)Rename the device to AppleTVMake HDMI and IR connectionsRefresh NavigatorsUse C4 remote and click Watch AppleTVuse ATV remote and goto Settings | General | Remotes | Learn Remote | StartWalk through the steps to teach AppleTV the buttons on the C4 remote for Navigation and Playback . Some actions let you hold down the button until accepted and others you need to click the button repeatedly until accepted. I did not program buttons for skip forward and back but rather just arrowed through them to finish the process. Once you finish that you have a fully functional ATV4 using a C4 remote. Instead of teaching the remote the commands for the new ATV you are teaching ATV to respond to generic IR commands. Again, this worked for us with the equipment and versions installed. Mileage may vary....
Baubas Cat
Does this work for controlling the new Home button not previously on the old remotes?
blenherr
It did not have an option to learn a home button. 4 arrows, select, menu, pause, play, stop, FF, RW, Skip forward Skip back But, hitting menu repeatedly gets you back to home screen. Mileage may vary.... Wow. Impressive work around. Of course, you COULD just use the 'old' play/pause code that is posted several times across the dealer forums (or learn it yourself from an old AppleTV remote). Seems like a much simpler solution if you ask me....but to each their own.0000 006D 0044 0000 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689

blenherr
OK. Sorry guys. I will try that IR code next time for play/pause in the old IR driver. I guess I was worried there might be other gremlins after both IR and IP driver sort of worked.
