I might be missing something so please correct me if i am wrong but I personally dont get this as a reason. The dealers will have the project saved for the customer and will know within minutes if its the customer who has broke the system. At this stage it becomes a chargeable service to fix creating more revenue for the dealer network.

Agreed... I don’t see any logic in this argument,

Well I doubt that HE users who do programming want to get their project flashed back to version which could be weeks or months old - although the cload yhould ahve a backup each couple of days.

But still that is what I was told - users who have HE have issues with their programming and there is a dispute whose fault it is and who is gonna pay to fix it.

For me personally this is a non issues, if I mess up I pay for it if I have to but as I always keep backups I never had to 😉

There was a nice interview with Martin Plaehn (C4 CEO) on a recent Hometech.fm podcast where he commented on 2018 being a quiet year for C4 and that they had bigger things in store for 2019. He also made some comments with regards to a renewed focus on enhancing their industrial design (which basically echos their statements around the Neeo acquisition).

Obviously this was vague CEO speak, but I certainly expect some bigger advances on the software/hardware front at CEDIA 2019 than we saw in 2018--which is a very low bar to overcome. Until then, we will just have to guess, hope, wish, etc.----as long as that doesn't include losing the ability to use HE. Let's not even think about that :)

Major changes won't be in a minor revision. I.e. a new GUI will not be in 2.10.7, however it will be in OS 3.

I had a dealer telling me the same - so it is likely not just a rumor.
I was told that HE will be removed for US/NA but probably not for EU due to legal issues. Programming will only be available to the end user via mycontrol4 account and "IF/WHEN/THAT" interface.
Personally I think that sucks and looks like a major regression as the web-interface does not provide a good overview for the whole system setup - so currently I would really dislike that. If the web-interface visually adapts to HE with tree layout and sub-entries for variables / devices I would not care much.

The reason is supposed to be that end users fuck up the programming and saying "it wasn't me" and then expect the dealer to fix it - I do believe that this being an issue is true but I can imagine there are other ways to prevent an end-user to modify/delete a dealers programming - i.e. tie a code string to HE or Pro via a simple flag and grey a dealers programming in HE out - seems much simpler to me and just as affective.

But we will how much will be true see when it is ready.... 😉

I must say that doesn’t sound likely to me.  It would be a huge step backwards.  I could see OS3.0 being a whole new operating system with a completely revamped Composer resulting in HE falling away BUT, I could not see them dropping HE in some geographies and not others just to protect from bad programming.  There are easier ways to deal with this (e.g. not allowing changes in Composer if a backup has not bee, made in the last 7 days etc.)

I agree with it being a step backwards and I don't wont it to happen.

It's just what I was told , let's just wait and see.
I have no reason to be leave that the dealer made it up, however not all "improvements" make it to new versions so I might not happen at all...

Certainly been a lot of rumors that proved true but also a lot that did not...

Some that were posted on this forum before they happened included:

When / then

Apple Bridge

CA1

Android based OS

etc.

That said, positive rumors can be fun to speculate about!  We need some cool new launches so that we don’t need to speculate... Roll on CEDIA

maybe they are ditching the current HE platform in favor of something more modern?  You know with better features like better copy/paste functions or bulk actions?  So maybe everyone is right - a new OS that is supported by new Composer Pro and Composer HE software?  I've only been around here for about 5 years, but has Composer really seen any improvements or upgrades?  So maybe that is whats in store?  Everyone is going cloud and monthly revenue model so maybe $15/month for 4sight + Composer Cloud HE or something?  They are already pushing cloud with back ups, When/Then programming, etc.

If they pulled Composer HE without a real replacement I would at least hope its only if you upgrade OS.  If that is the case, I'll be stuck on 2.10.x to the bitter end.

Please provide me his or her name and number, company information and more and I'll maybe believe a dealer told you anything along these lines at all, after I speak to this person.

As far as I'm concerned, this is pure nonsense and if there is even anything that could be considered a rumour at all about it, it feels like nothing else but an attempt to spread malcontent.

Makes me almost miss WAP's crusade against Control4's failing to stop HDMI from existing.....

You do know that I am not going to reveal the name, that is something you don't do.

For one I wasn't the 1st posting this and it is not my intent to spread any malcontent- check my posts I haven't done it in the past and I don't intend it to do now.

If you classify every rumor as malcontent / attempt to spread malcontent then it's probably best just skip the discussion

I have heard of no plans to discontinue ComposerHE in the near (or far) future.
I believe it's just a rumor.
The only rumors that you can slightly believe are those that originate from someone finding company governmental filings (patents, FCC, etc.).

Thx for the feedback. That would be great as I really like my HE :-)

I'm not saying that at some point it won't be replaced, but I think it's a pretty good assumption that if it were to be removed, it would be replaced with something that had equivalent functionality, which When -> Then doesn't.

When -> Then is getting better, that's for certain, but there's a *lot* of functionality packed into ComposerHE.

After reading RyanE post above sounds like its being looked into and replaced with a better version of  When -> Then

So it may not be malcontent and CY you could be out of the Loop

Just had a look for the CA1 thread form a while back and below are two Quotes concerning the CA1

Quote from CY about the CA1 "LOL you're all assuming it even exists beyond paperwork....and that the paperwork is even real. "

Quote From msgreenf  "Imho the paperwork is real.but the product was cancelled "

Very diplomatic answer that which leaves a door open for pretty much any possibility ;-)

What’s wrong with the current OS, UI? It’s what had made my purchase decision in the first place ... Innovation is welcomed of course, will wait and see.
It's missing quite a few things, just some that pop into my head at the moment:

- Missing proxies/views/drivers for Home appliances - dish watcher, fridge etc.. - so real integration with status feedback and so on scheduler warnings etc.

- customizable views for media data within navigators, I.e. artist vs album-artists - or similar stuff

- more flexible GUI with custom icons or web pages for least for visual presentation of liquid levels, floor maps with windows locations, list view that shows open windows etc... - actually HTML5 would be perfect for that, but I doubt that will happen
