Hi

Could anyone help me. I have a

1) Yamaha AV receiver RX A2010

2) Yamaha Blu Ray DVD BD S681

3) Russound Multizone controller MCA C3

4) Russound digital media streamer DMS 3.1

I am planning / wanted to integrate the above units with a new control 4 and would like to know if this is possible. I checked the respective websites and cant find anything related to it. I contacted few control 4 installers and everyone is giving me conflicting views. Please help

Certainly the Yamaha equipment should not be an issue as their equipment is widespread globally.  I have several Yamaha receivers and they all see to use the same IR codes, even some that are about 30 years old.   So I would say that there is greater than a 99% chance that you control it via IR.  The A2010 has an ethernet port so it should also be controllable via IP.

what type of conflicting information are you getting? looks like a easy simple setup. no video endpoint (TV or projector)?

the receiver is easy, native serial and IP drivers (serial preferred IMO)

There do not appear to be drivers for that specific BD but there are other IR for models of that family, or your integrator can just make you an IR one from your original remote.

the Russsound MCA C3 has native support also (presumably serial)

http://drivers.control4.com/solr/drivers/browse?q=MCA-C3&fq=manufacturer%3A"Russound"

and the Russound digital media streamer DMS 3.1there is a driver on the russound site, i would think it would be IP.

DMS-3.1 Driver: Note: The DMS-3.1 MUST be used as a source component with a Russound controller.  russound_dms31.c4z

The advantage of IP is that your controller doesn't have to be in the same room as your AV devices - it just has to be on the LAN.  Wouldn't it be a nice world if every device had IP that worked properly so that you could use one C4 controller to handle many rooms of AV equipment.  But then we would have to go beyond using /24 networks :)

The 2010 should have a serial port.  Use it, especially if you are going to have more then one Yamaha receiver in the project.  The IP driver is still buggy and you can have all sorts of bizarre problems itch tgevreceivers turning themselves off unexpectedly using IP control.

there are threads on this.
