Gas Fireplace/Z2io

I'm about to try to make a gas fireplace smart with a C4-Z2io and I feel like a complete idiot, even after reading every line of the documentation (x3).

I have a existing dumb standard toggle paddle switch right now turning the fireplace on and off. This switch opens and closes the contacts and is low voltage.

I want to maintain the ability to use the toggle switch if possible, though I want to make sure C4 doesn't get confused.

Can someone give me the COMPLETE idiot’s guide to doing this. I mean so detailed that I can maybe pull this off? I have the Z2io equipment complete. I don't know how to wire the Z2io and if someone says - wire the relay to the contact... blah blah... I'll pound my head against a wall. Just simply step by step and I'll be forever grateful. PS: I do have a power strip in the box to energize the Z2io - so I’ve got that part).

Thanks!

Thanks Matt.

I was able to do this with Mitch. They’re truly amazing these Z2io’s Matt. I had no idea of the possibilities with them. I feel confident now. I just was having a hard time with figuring out the contact/relay connections. Once I got it, it’s very understandable.

Getting ready to do my garage door next. I got the C4 Kit.

yea they made some major improvements from the Card access orginal devices. This is now a 4 in one device. just wish they went usb c but micro is a improvement over the mini.

What would be really nice is if the low voltage or 110v could just power it, rather than having to have an exogenous source to energize. Maybe that’s already possible.

yea the only down side it is only a 5v dc device not sure on the amps. so you could get some type of device in there. but its trading one thing for another at point. I will they did it off a 12v design as that it more common that i see
