Max audio streams?

Hi all,

I know next to nothing about how audio works with C4, but my setup is as follows: EA-5, 3 x CA-1, 24x24 Triad audio matrix switch, 15 zones of audio.

My dealer says I am limited to 4 simultaneous audio streams from different sources.

Does that sound right?

Thanks,

Adam

yes that sounds right.  The EA-5 has 5 (hence the name), but one of those is an HDMI audio stream, which you really shouldn't use unless sending that to an AVR in a room that you don't necessarily need to be in perfect synch with the other zones.  So that leaves you with 2 analog outputs and 2 digital coax outputs which are most likely wired into your 24x24 matrix, for a total of 4 simultaneous streams.

This may not be of interest but just in case, I believe you loose audio resolution the more streams you utilize.  Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I think the EA-5 gives you full 24/192 but only with 2 analog streams.  If you start using a 3rd stream it decreases (24/96?) and then decreases again with a 4th stream (16/44?) but stops there..I think.

How many residents in this home. You really only need one stream per resident. Maybe some more for guests if they stay over often enough.

Where are the EA1 and are they On Screen Display for TVs. They also have one HDMI stream but same concerns as others said for the EA5
