Yes

I don’t quite follow. I’m not saying you’re wrong, just saying I don’t follow how that solves “the problem” of getting direct TV channel access ( say CNBC) on a Neeo remote. Inothwords, how is an Xfinity OTT app (which I believe exists) running on a Roku any different than a YouTubeTV app running on a Roku insofar as it solves “the problem”?

I didn't reply to your question.

I don't know if the Roku API enables the level of integration yiu are thinking.

A custom button with a macro to select Roku channel the select a channel with that may be the closest you get today.

Got it. This is why I think native integration of OTT services into a C4 system would be valuable or at least OTT services (YTTV or Xfinity OTT) expanding their APIs to support channel level access for the Roku/Chromecast/SmartTV/AppleTV platforms (and increasing the number of allowable simultaneous streams)

That just requires an update to the current Roku driver at some point to integrate that functionality

It's NOT the roku, roku API (ok maybe a little) or the Control4 system that's prohibiting specific streaming cable channel selection (ie: CNBC).

It's the streaming cable repackager (YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Xfinity, etc) that don't support it.
Once one of them does, it will require Roku to update software, maybe they'll make a number remote, before they can be accessed through Control4.

The ATT beta hardware and the Xfinity Flex hardware both have number button remotes; but zero API, and unlikely to have an API.

Agreed. This is what I was trying to say in my last post

I believe this problem is kind of a "deep-linking" issue where we want to link deeper down inside a service.  Like linking to a specifc show in Netflix.  It appears to be possible, but it seems that the service like to discourage that type of activity as they like more control over the UI and want to force you to go through their home screens to facilitate advertising, etc.  And at times the URLs/URIs to get to the content is pretty knarly.

That doesn't mean there's a dynamic API to load that information, update it and force it to the system.

This is why I'm not so sure we'll truly see it happen.

I'm not going to claim to know where the issue lies - but I suspect it's somthing like this - C4 doesnt' want to implement a solution that needs CONSTANT tinkering and driver updates (as in, possibly weekly) to account for chaning infrastructure - Roku isn't willing to share it's info on how IT implements it's search right now (because it's giving them an edge) - streming services don't want it because they risk losing advertisement
