Sonos Port

I’ve just added a new Sonos Port to my system. It’s connected to my Denon X8500H Digital Audio DVD in. DVD isn’t used anywhere else right now.

It added fine. I did plug Ethernet in and it’s the only Sonos Ethernet device. Showing playing in the Sonos app, but no sound. Do I need to maybe do something in C4?

Yes. Add the driver and bind it. You need 1 Sonos network. Which you have. And one properly configured device driver for each Sonos

Thanks Mitch - I figured as much. What do you think...do I need to use Ethernet or can I stick with wireless at The “Port”. Either way I’ll reserve. I don’t understand best practice with Sonos when it comes to ethernet, wireless & Sonosnet. So many conflicting opinions. I do not want to create network issues.

Which is the best connection optical, digital or analog?

I was able to get the Denon to broadcast. Had to dig for settings (there are so many).

highest to lowest quality -- Digital coax, optical, analog.

IMHO if you have an eth port use it.  But I will always say that.  Wired over wireless 100% of the time.  If its a device that doesn't move, wire it.

Thanks Mitch.  This is how it's setup now.  Endpoints are still tricky.  I'm playing around starting stream in master and trying to add LR Port via C4 session.  It's not letting me add the LR.  Thoughts on endpoints? I would think the Port is the LR Audio Endpoint 1, versus the Denon.  Since the Port is what adding that room is triggering.  Could be way off.
