Someone should merge the two threads that got created by the OP on this topic.

IP has a huge benefit in that you don't need a controller in the room to make a phyiscal connection which you need for IR or serial (or at least you need some Z2IR or wiring solution).

I have had an issue with IP with an AVR but IP with my Sharp branded Roku TVs has been rock steady for me every since I had these TVs - which is roughly a year.

Used Global Cache devices, eBay, $30~$50 max

I managed to snag six of the GC-100s for $100 on ebay a few months ago! Almost the functionality of a C4 controller for WAY less.

But you need ethernet cabling for those, unless you get the Wifi2IR which doesn't do serial.

Yes, I have every device in my home with 2 LAN cables, wise move I guess as I can easily use these without the hassle of WiFi congested networks! I had 5KM Cat6 runs for my entire house, something I will be grateful for, for a while ...

I'm using the latest LG 48" OLED and it's spectacular. 120hz, 4k, HDR OLED panel. IP Control via the Annex4 driver works quite well.

Generally speaking, folks seem to say the higher-end Sony TV's have good IP control through Control4
