You are comparing apples to oranges. A midspan PoE injector has no network switching capability. It literally just injects power onto an Ethernet cable (or multiple Ethernet cables in this case). For the OP’s use, he wouldn’t have anything connected to the “LAN” inputs on the injector...only his Dots & shades (assuming they’re only PoE for power) would be connected to the “LAN+PoE” outputs of the injector.

You're right... If no need for any data to move on the network then this is a perfect scenario for a POE injector.

UniFi is not on the Do Not Use list. C4 Gold dealer here, and we use UniFi exclusively for all our network gear. We have well over 100 C4 systems running on UniFi, and we don’t have network related issues.

I'm 100% with you... It's a comment that periodically gets brought up in this forum and normally ends in long and contentious debate :)

No. The Powershades are PoE power only. Control is via hardwired relays. Both are carried over one network cable which breaks out into RJ-45 & three wire leads (up, down, common) for the up/down relays. They do not have network communication.

Powershades the brand does both power and data over the single poe line. Don't they have 2 way communication which would mean not just a relay.

Apparently they have an available breakout adapter that will separate the up, down & common wires for relay control from the Ethernet cable. You are correct in that they can be controlled via network as well. I don’t even know what brand of blinds the OP is using; it wasn’t mentioned in the post.

Powershades. And yes they do have network control, hence the reason we selected Powershades. One CAT6A (in our case) and all done.

For clarification , PowerShades are also battery powered and they work great. I have them.

Yeah we were just talking about the Cat powered/controlled shades. I have both (couple windows were too small for POE motors but they told my dealer the other day when they were replacing a battery motor that failed it should be 6-12 mo to roll them out). I think as small as 22" they were saying. We plan to switch our motors as soon as they come out have 6 windows w battery now. Def good over all but a little slower than their POE counterparts.

I would love to understand this.  I have an all-Unifi network, but I too have been led to believe that a C4 video matrix won’t work with a Unifi network featuring VLANs, allegedly because Unifi doesn’t support PIM Multicasting.

So, that’s a myth?
