Compser HE 3.2.1 "Not responding" Issue

Recommended Posts

I recently acquired a Composer HE license, and have not been able to log onto myController. HE starts fine, then asks for the controller to log into. After selecting the controller, the HE does absolutely nothing and hangs. Ultimately, the program responds with "Not Responding". HE continues to report "Connecting to  192.xxx.xxx.xxx" but never seems to log on. The troubleshooting steps I've taken thus far included turning all firewalls Off and turning antivirus off. Any troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.

Ok, now after having spent time researching and writing to the forum on this problem I returned to the Composer HE and found the program to have successfully logged into the controller. This only took approximately ~20 mins... This still doesn’t seem right.

So, the first step to learning any new software to a controller interface, I decided to do a backup. This process has now been working in the background for over 30 mins. Is this right? What's throttling the process of communicating to the controller? Any thoughts or further suggestions?

Hello, and good question from tekki70. So the computer system is set to "Public", and it is connecting to the director via local LAN. This doesn’t seem to the the issue, however I wouldn't put it past Windows 10 having something to do with the slow connection to the director.

All boxes have been checked, and I've re-started the machine. The program still takes approximately 15-20 mins to populate the controller data.

Another curious item I see occurring is that when I load Composer HE it loads 2 separate Programs/interfaces. One says “Composer Home Edition/OS Management 3.2.1” and the other says "Composer Home Edition 3.2.1 (Not Responding)" in it’s title bar. Once the program finally gets its data from the controller, these 2 separate window pages merge into one and become "Composer Home Edition/OS Management 3.2.1" alone. Also, when checking the "Control Panel Uninstall or Change a Program" in Windows, it list 2 separate "Composer HE 3.2.1 and a second Composer OS Management Package 3.2.1". Both programs are within 1MB of data of content.
